yes this is called planned obsolescence. From a business standpoint (profits are the only thing that matter) it makes sense, especially if you can cut down on material costs using cheaper plastic & stuff. There's still high-quality products out there but us poor folk pretty much always choose the cheapest option. Whenever I buy something I google it with 'reddit' and look at people's complaints/reviews. There are always nerds who obsess over the best kind of boots and vapes and stuff, then I get them for cheap on ebay - lightly used.
