2023-02-05 05:23:55 +0000 UTCalso idk if anyone said it yet but everything in part 1 - part 5 is pretty unaffected, only part 6 is the one that doesnt happen bc no pucci in this universe. imo this is one of the best jojo endings but i feel like it's great after a rewatch - a lot of it goes over your head during the last four-ish episodes. but themes of fate and how araki plays around w them, plus a 10/10 villain make part 6 one of my faves story wise

2023-02-03 08:26:10 +0000 UTCit's wild how pucci's experience with perla's death led to this mentality. instead of fighting the unknown, he ran from it by obtaining this power. "I cant change things/my fate, i might as well just know and be prepared for what will happen to me". and he's projecting that onto humanity. this is why he thinks giving ppl the ability to know the future is heaven. from DIO's POV - laying in that damn coffin underwater for 100 years thought of the joestars and how they fight against their fate. his L to jonathan was so big he thought of a plan to eliminate his descendents and their souls and try to live in a universe without them LOL... they both were kinda afraid if you think about it.

2023-02-03 08:08:36 +0000 UTCit took araki a lot of courage to kill off everyone like that, including ppls fave jotaro lol love that he doesnt shy away from risks!! stone ocean wasnt doing super great when being published, and there is a quote from one of his editors that basically says "yeah i asked him to make jolyne male but araki refused in 3 seconds. women were just starting to get lead roles in popular films at the time but it was too soon for shonen jump readers to accept a female lead like that. and considering stone ocean's popularity - i do still think a male protagonist would have been better". so that was already a risk and then when he realized he reached the end of his creativity with this universe, he killed them all lmao (ofc with a bittersweet end). GOAT araki

2023-02-03 02:11:16 +0000 UTCSo just to clarify cause I honestly think this is one of the best endings ever in anime. Pucci said how he needed to speed time up to a certain date to make his new ideal universe perfect but fate doesn't like to be denied so when Pucci was killed in Emporio's room fate rewards Emporio by bringing everyone back. Now due to the whole theme of fate in JoJo's this means in the new universe that all of JoJo's is fated to happen again but with a butterfly effect of Pucci never being born. This means in the new universe none of our MCs were fated to go to prison and meet Pucci cause the gravity of his existence would never draw them there. They all now lived way better lives but, and this is the reason Emporio cries, they may have the same soul but their memories that formed them as people and the bonds they shared are gone forever. It's a callback to what F.F said when they died. All we are is memory and even if you bring me back I wouldn't be the same F.F and I wouldn't want to live like that. F.F also doesn't appear in the new universe cause they were created by Whitesnake. Jolyne is now Irene cause she never had to become a JoJo and fight the curse of Dio. It's a bittersweet ending but thats a perfect encapsulation of JoJo's as a whole. Beautiful yet tragic. TLDR; Araki is based and the fact the main universe ends with Jolyne saving a child in the ocean just like Jonathan did at the end of part 1 making the JoJoverse end as it began is double based.

2023-02-03 01:57:49 +0000 UTCRocklee got it right, you both just got confused by the ant scene. The ant is either the priest replacement or new date in the current universe with everything he did and involved him in the old universe null and void. Because of this, the reborn crew is free of the Jojo curse/ the threat of Dio. The name changes are just a result of that freedom.
