Rewatching this, hehe, and the exchange Lee and Adorkable have from 26:14 to 27:03 is so interesting because both of those couples were written in the same way and that is no coincidence, cause this is a TV Show (there's a script, it's all planned, the writing is intentional and everything happens for a reason). We'll see if my assumptions are correct on Season 5 but everything that Adorkable said applies to that certain couple...

2022-11-14 00:34:07 +0000 UTCIt makes sense that he didn't protect his physical body very well, it was explained that attacking the demodogs and deomogorgon would weaken him, that's why they did it. El freeing herself also makes sense, she beat him once using her good memories, she proved that she's stronger by doing so. Mikes pep talk gave her that extra push to overpower him. He was also focussed on Max at the time.

2022-11-11 01:47:10 +0000 UTCAlso I have a essay on why I think this, but I’m just gonna drop my theory and anyone whose interested I’ll message you with it, it’s truly a deep dive on everything in the last season or two and some DND stuff, but yeah, my theory is vecnas mind is going to be in max’ body and next season will be eleven learning how to search where max said she would be hiding if this was to ever happen, “in the light”. Callin my shot! I really hope it’s the case, for vecna to not defend his physical body vs Steve/Nancy/robin, and to release his grip on eleven, was all absurd unless vecna did it on purpose because “they already lost”... but like I said if anyone wants the entire theory HMU, there are no sources besides the show so there are no spoilers

Director cracked me up with that "only one hole to defend" line XD. When I first watched this episode with my girl & the scene where the tentacles grabbed Steve, Nancy & Robin happened my girl turned to me & said "Oh shit! I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going.". I damn near spit out my drink. The actor that plays Eddie can actually play that song his character plays in this episode & he met Metallica & they gave him a replica of the guitar he used in that scene & they all signed it. It was kinda sweet, I'm gonna miss his character. He was only in it for one season but quickly became one of my favourites. I got the impression that Vecna/One wasn't working for the "Mind Flayer" but was actually controlling it. When he first found it, it was just a big swirling cloud but it looked like when he reached out he gave it a form. Also when we see a Demodog when he first arrives in the upside down it was just chilling, it looked over at him & carried on walking past in the background. I actually don't think the Demodogs aren't all that aggressive without Vecna/One's influence over them. Maybe Adorkable is right to be sad about them being killed. Loved watching this reaction from you guys & I can't wait to watch the next season along with you.

I understood Sonics point and yours as well. I’m basically not watching to see my character die. I’m looking forward to them completing their journey. For this show. Steve, Hop, and El. THAT being said. There is enough characters i am invested in to stick around. I think Steve is the biggest lost emotionally for me. Never thought I’d think that. He was a duche lol

So, for me, those 3 characters must have the biggest plot armor… Also: I think the key to defeat Vecna is killing the Mind Flayer or turn it against him. I don’t know if it’s possible because the Mind Flayer already existed in the Upside Down when Henry was sent there, but that is how everything is connected. If they take that away from him, it will only be Vecna to fight…

If they are gone my interest deteriorates. I stopped watching Walking dead when my favorite character died. I stopped watching Greys Anatomy for the same reason. Killing important characters Or fan favs is a risky move.

Max should have died and having El pull and Naruto or a Jesus on max really soured me just a little. I guess the actress may be right and the writers are scared to kill important people. But like I said that’s my one critique of the show because I do like death and consequences but overall amazing show and made one of the characters I love the most in any fictional world. Between episode 4 (Max episode), episode 6 (One reveal) and this episode I think this is my favorite season so far – barely pushing season 1 off the throne, in my opinion.

Theory about Vecna and Max next season. I think Vecna said everyone he killed is inside his mind. So, Eleven has to enter Vecna's mind and rescue Max and the others. However, Max is the only one who has a body to go back to. Fully expect Max to come back with powers. And fully expect Nancy to spend the entire next season trying to break up with Jonathan while moving on with Steve.

But now im thinking that Max isnt stuck like that because Vecna didnt get her completely like the others. That's my theory tho 😅
