(We learned this when Riko had it in season one so no spoilers)

But your comment confirms what we were thinking…it’s 100% sexual than. They are repeating a term from a society with sex slaves. Though the girl may not be intentional about it being sexual. Now Vueko don’t mean anything by it most likely. It’s like a child repeating adult words they heard from adults. It’s almost as simple as that.

Life ain't pretty, especially not if you need to actually survive a hostile environment Edit: Oh also Vueko saying she is "supple" is basically because she has no other way to 'sell' the idea of bringing her with them. I don't think it's meant sexually but as Vueko comes from a place where sexual slavery seems common... probably seemed like a good reason to her.

Like these people you saw in this episode have nothing so they are in search of something greater. I would say take it for instance the garden of eden from the bible. Its a legendary place and stories have been told from the bible of what it is and just say for instance you had the possible chance of finding it but you had to go on a journey seeking it. You want to see it with your own eyes. Basically that group of people are in search for somewhere that can only be seen with your own eyes and has legends passed on about the possibility of that place and the wonders it has and rumors spread throughout the world. The abyss is a sacred place. You get people during Riko's timeframe going down and dragging relics up because they can be valuable due to how much the abyss is praised and worshipped for being unknown and so insanely different from the rest of the world. Their is monetary gain, adventure and thrill seeking, searching for a place in the abyss that has rumors of being a legendary place hence the name "golden city", and they also have hinted at people having a deep connection to the abyss like with Riko she is drawn to the abyss through unexplainable paranormal like events such as her dying in the abyss but being revived as a baby. I wouldn't say there is only one reason for people to go in the abyss.
