To be fair, he's keeping her safe but being locked in a house 24/7 for a year isn't exactly healthy, and "unhealthy" isn't really "safe" either. I agree, he was a brat for that (even though it's obvious why). So Lucas had to agree with El being in the group when he had legit reasons not to trust her, but when Max, a very normal girl with no superpowers, tries to be part of the party, it's an absolute no? Dustin and Lucas needed to defy Mike, but I guess it would've brought more issues...

I understand he’s grieving but i feel like his personality is disrespectful even when he’s not grieving he doesn’t have respect for his parents or adults and when he gets mad at friends he lashes and says hurtful things that are unnecessary that’s just his personality

I agree that Mike is essentially doing the same thing Lucas was doing in season 1, but the reason I can excuse his actions more is because he simply felt like they were replacing El with another girl. He was still hung up on El meanwhile they had moved on and were ready to welcome someone new but he wasn't. If the whole El thing had never happened or if she was still with them, I think mike wouldn't have had a problem with Max at all.

Mike being the douchebag towards Max like Lucas was towards Eleven. What is even more hypocritical of him is the fact that he allowed El in no questions asked and no one got a say really on the matter. Yet, now with roles are reversed were a girl the other two are interested in and also like and he won't leave any wiggle room concerning her and is jealous of her as well, like Lucas was in season 1. Mike thinking he is the dictator of the group all of sudden.

I’ll give a personal example I actually lower my voice like very low when My daughter gets in trouble. It has a massive effect on her to see with that level of control and seriousness. She stops what she’s doing and listens. The few time i shout, she ends up just crying and actually makes the process of redirecting more complicated Because she’s now “hurt” that daddy yelled. When i use a low tone. She doesn’t have any room to get all flustered and emotional. She focuses on the content of my words. That strategy is not for everyone. You gotta look at this childs needs and deploy the tactic effective in managing the behavior. Hopper didn’t deploy a tactic effective against El. He was 100% right though. But being right as a parent/guardian is virtually irrelevant if the child isnt receiving the lesson. I literally worked with Teenagers, i was trained on this. That’s my 2 cents

I agree. Hopper is 100% in the right. The yelling contest was just not the right method with her. It’s literally not as that tactic never succeed in redirecting El’s behavior. If Hopper yells at El and her behavior changed for the better. Welll ok. But it clearly had no positive effect. Parenting is a skill. Communication is a skill. The bulk if the argument isn’t about who’s “right”. It’s about did Hopper use the correct parental techniques? If so, did El listen. I wouldn’t defend much if El’s behavior cuz she’s wrong. Damn so I’m against both lee and adorkable. I don’t think El would’ve survived an entire year on her own. Yeah she got powers but it’s not like she’s bullet proof or has some insane reflexes. It’s also not like she can keep using her powers non stop. Alone the government hears of some girl hiding in the woods and just send countless bodies to ultimately exhaust her and take her back to the lab. It’s also not like hopper could just flip a switch and make the government stop searching for her. I don’t think hopper truly did anything wrong. His only real “lie” was forgetting about the time he was supposed to be with El. He never gave her a set date to when she’d be free from the government.

Add on. El understood the reason behind the rules when they were first put in place. Now almost a year later she wants to act out? She had an entire year to do that. I personally think she was way outta line. Hopper acted just like a concerned parent. I never saw el as a troubled kid. I look at this like she believes that because she has these powers that she’s untouchable and all hopper wants her to realize is that she’s very wrong

Nah this is one of the few times i actually disagree with lee. Hopper has been extremely nice and protective. It’s not even like El doesn’t understand why he had those rules. She fully did and still broke them. It was a minor punishment. El was extremely unreasonable during that fight. Especially to compare hopper to brenner (papa). Hopper was a lot more calm than my mother would’ve if i snuck out the house all day and I don’t got government agents wanting to capture or kill me.

In a previous episode it showed her sitting by a fire after she killed a squirrel I think she would have been fine for a while but she couldn't always be on the run

18:31 in my opinion eleven wouldn’t have made it threw that winter alive on her own. Winter months in the woods with no knowledge of how to start a fire even if you got powers nobody can survive that.
