Ikkaku respects Kenpachi Zaraki, I think he originally wanted to defeat Kenpachi but over time he developed a sense of respect for him, I think their initial relationship as rivals has changed over time I think at this point Ikkaku sees Kenpachi as a friend and as the only man (fighter) he truly respects. Ikkaku's Bankai is absolutely amazing.
