Sometimes he gets close to making sounds that sound like thanks or sorry, but it is never more then that. Edit. I haven't read manga or LN, this is just based on the anime episodes that we have watched together. Awesome reaction btw, you should really watch Demon Slayer ;) it is really awesome.

I would even be happy if the reason was because he wanted to get weaker from healing to have a more exciting fight against ouken, like yall said.
