January 2022 - Patreon Set - Part II

"Fuck Theo, he doesn't know what he's talking about," I grumble to myself, walking through the locker room with furrowed brows. I can't even enjoy a relaxing swim anymore, why was he in there anyways? He's hated water for as long as I can remember... dude's fucking nuts. 

And what does he mean, 'how's Justin?' Trying to imply I'm keeping some secret from him, like Theo would know what that is even if I was... which I'm not. 

Running a hand through my hair, I open my locker and pull out my towels. There's no heating in here, in fact the school thinks it needs to blast us with the aircon - so if you come in from the pool it's like walking through the North Pole. Wrapping my body in the comfortable imported Egyptian cotton, my ears perk at a conversation taking place behind me.

"Apparently, some new kids starting next week. He's from England - which would be kinda cool if it wasn't for why he's moved here," the first voice says.

I can see their reflections in the locker. Elliot was barely holding a towel around his unusually gaunt frame, while Kian had a shit stirring grin twisting his lips. 

"You can't just say something like that and leave a dramatic pause..." Elliot sighs heavily, while Kian just chuckles. 

"He got kicked out of his old school, which was a private boarding school by the way. He beat up a guy for no reason and broke his jaw - so his family shipped him overseas to save themselves from the embarrassment," Kian says, not bothering to hush his voice or be the slightest bit discrete. 

"How the hell would you know that?" Elliot scoffs, mimicking exactly what I was thinking. 

"He's moving in with his Aunt, who also happens to be the next door neighbour of my moms, friends, hairdresser... who heard it from her sisters, fiancé's, dentist."

"Dude, you're talking out your ass right now..." Elliot replied, at which point I zone out from the conversation and shut my locker. 

This town is a death trap of gossip and rumours, and sometimes no matter how hard you try - it always finds a way to slither into your life. Well not today - I'm not gonna let Theo fuck with my head, and I'm not gonna get caught up in the drama of kid who hasn't even started at the school yet.
