I think for Eren, there really is no other choice. It seems like he has two non-negotiables: Historia and her kids cannot be turned into titans, and Paradise to have a guaranteed peace after his four years are up. Taking that into account, there is no other choice but to rumble.

2025-08-02 08:44:04 +0000 UTCThis is lost in the translation, but when Eren says he'll "wipe out every last one of them", he's using the counter for animals (ippiki = one animal) instead of the counter for humans (hitori = one person). This is a grammatical feature that doesn't exist in English, since it only uses a universal counter for all objects (one, two, three...) vs Japanese where each noun class has its counter. The statement therefore reduces the rest of the world to less than human, to justify killing them. It also echoes Eren's statement in episode 2 of the series where he vows "to wipe out all Titans".
