Uncut AOT 4 x 20
Added 2025-06-14 22:27:13 +0000 UTCSorry for the delay! Davinci was giving me hassle and then there's been an issue with a YT video having FPS drops so now I have to figure out where that's come from so it doesn't impact any future videos / filming!
Super paranoid now that all my videos have an FPS drop that I haven't picked up on!

2025-06-15 12:27:36 +0000 UTCI am aware but I also think it's meant to mirror Historia whilst not being Historia solely because of it being in the moment after Frieda is consumed and the hand is limp and lifeless. The sleeve is also identical to both. I think it's arguably relevant to both Historia and Frieda especially considering Frieda reappears in 4 x 21.

2025-06-15 11:29:08 +0000 UTCI've already explained in depth why I believe Eren's an anti-hero in 4 x 21 so I won't delve into it here as that would ruin the react discussion. Part of the anti-hero trajectory is making them appear to be the villain because their actions are antagonistic but for the greater good. We don't always agree with their actions and may condemn it as evil but in the grand scheme their actions could be viewed as the only way in which to achieve peace and prosperity. As for point 1 - I also delve into that with 4 x 21 haha!

2025-06-15 10:35:25 +0000 UTCI will always cherish Grisha's voice acting in this scene 🗣️. Truly the best of the best! It never fails to amaze me how actors and voice actors can effectively convey such extreme emotions, whether it's utter despair or sheer joy. It's emotionally draining (and quite exhausting for your voice as well), and you have to convincingly portray that it's authentic. Grisha's voice actor, Hiroshi Tsuchida, has been a professional senior voice actor in Japan for decades. The entire final scene where Grisha embraces Zeke is genuinely a masterclass in animation—it's unbelievable! The visuals are stunning, the animation flows beautifully, and the voice acting is outstanding. The shot compositions are mind-blowing, the music is intense, and the emotions are tangible... Wow, it always moves me; I can't help but get a bit teary-eyed. 🥺

2025-06-15 08:55:57 +0000 UTCEpisodes 4x19-21 were absolutely mind-blowing when they were first released. I was obsessed with them for months. I have a couple of questions for you, knowing that you have already watched 4x21: 1. You said you are still ok with Eren killing the traffickers, but did hearing Eren's argument of "Rather than letting someone steal my freedom, I'll steal theirs first" changed your perspective on this event and Eren's actions? It certainly did for me. 2. Keeping that same argument in mind. Would you at this point still consider Eren as an anti-hero? Or has he become a villain in your eyes? Or do you think it is still too early to make a call? Where would you draw the line? Once again, Eren's line of "Rather than letting someone steal my freedom, I'll steal theirs first" didn't give me much hope for Eren's action at this point of the story.

2025-06-15 06:37:13 +0000 UTCThe sequence of Grisha breaking down after killing the Reiss family is one of my favorite animation and voice acting moments in anime. Both the artists and VA are killing this moment, and it is such a great inversion of expectations for all the people who saw Grisha as some kind of mastermind using Eren as a child soldier. If anything he's such a tragic victim in it all. I'll avoid theory crafting as there's so much more coming and you deserve to make up your own mind.

2025-06-15 05:14:06 +0000 UTCBefore AoT, I had a favorite movie that explored similar themes (I won’t say which one.. wouldn’t want to spoil it in case you decide to watch it someday… I don’t want to give you future memories. 🤣). It also dealt with the idea of future memories, raising questions like: was everything predestined? Was there ever any real free will? Time travel in film can be so confusing for me, but that film and AoT’s take on it felt surprisingly satisfying for me. The concept of future memories didn’t feel like it robbed the characters of free will. The person still makes a choice in the present.. even though knowledge of what will happen in the future greatly influences their choices, but the decision is still theirs in the moment.. it’s just that the future eventually puts everything into place. Still can’t wrap my head around it 100%, but at least for me it is a satisfying resolution to those paradoxes when it comes to time travel fiction. Isayama is GOAT. XD
