The reason Frieren takes that 1% chance is because the mimics don't harm her and as someone whose lived for so long - this is probably the only chance she gets to truly take a risk that may pay off in providing a rare grimoire. It's a gamble but when she has so many years to waste it's worth the potential result nonetheless.
It's just really sweet that this quirk isn't about her being foolish or unaware of the danger but more emphasises her absolute love of magic and loot. Not to mention it's her chance to enjoy what the world has to offer her and find some excitement in it too!
Sometimes things come to me after watching because it's hard to do a proper analysis of an episode or a show in general without multiple re-watches and frame by frame pauses. I do an off-the-cuff analysis based on what I've watched which really isn't enough to do a huge deep dive which is why I focus on being a react channel first and foremost.
I've had a few comments lately that were a bit disheartening, about how I shouldn't mention my doctorate because I don't explore the show deep enough to justify mentioning my literature background and compare me to other channels that do deep dives into the narrative themes. There's a huge difference between sitting down and spending hours analysing and drafting a script and filming a react and basing a discussion on that singular episode.
I wish I had the time to do a deeper dive but between work, filming, editing - I'd be posting maybe 1 video every 2 weeks if that because of how long the additional work would take. Either way I'm still proud of what I do nonetheless but yeah - just wanted to add a reminder that really expectations should be managed somewhat in a reaction vs a dedicated video essay.

Maybe because there is more anticipation. If the episodes were further apart I wouldn’t care, I enjoy them when they come. Just keep doing what you can with an emphasis on passion and quality. Speed? Meh
