lol I feel you on the Solo Leveling/Frieren vent. One of my friends likes anime so I showed him both shows. All he did was BITCH the entire time watching Frieren (when's the action, when's the actions, when do we get to the action). Like boy SHUT UP!! lol meanwhile I've cried my eyes out like 6 times and I'm just having a complete emotional journey along with this amazing story. It honestly really pissed me off how much shit he was talking about the show all because there wasn't a fight scene every single episode. Showed him Solo Leveling and all he talked about was how it was so much "better" because "Freiren is just so boring. There's no action." I do agree both are amazing and each in their own way, but I HATE how they are compared. Some people just like the trope of "weak guy get stronger" which is fine, but dont they ever get tired of the same thing over and over? We've been fed the weak guy get stronger story a thousand times. But a Story taking place AFTER the main events? I just love it. The symbilism, the character development, the absolute emotional turmoil this show puts me in with Himmel and Frieren lol. To compare them is a crime and people just need to be happy with what they like and let others enjoy what they like. It just makes me really sad the people that dont give Frieren the time of day because there isn't a fight scene every episode.

2025-05-01 22:35:20 +0000 UTCI had a very specific emotional response to the first half of this episode with Sein leaving. I’ve always had an issue, especially when growing up, of feeling like every friendship should be a lifelong friendship. It made goodbyes super hard, and got to the almost toxic point where it didn’t feel worth making friends if I was at say, a 3 month internship, etc. because I’d be saying goodbye so soon anyway. I can’t remember what book it was, but I read about how toxic this mindset can become, and how important it is to retain your thinking as an adult that even short friendships are valuable, as realistically very few friends will turn into lifelong friendships. This episode captured that sentiment perfectly. I naturally was also saying, “Sein CAN’T leave!” but the author portrays perfectly that sometimes people just have different goals and that Sein, the adult he is, is able to make the decision to move toward his goal while still cherishing his short time with our party. I still think of this episode often if I get too bogged down in my old way of thinking.

Even if you don’t check it out right now, it’s worth it to do so at some point. This is a video most people don’t think of watching but it has original animation and stuff and I just cry every time I watch it. https://youtu.be/OIBODIPC_8Y?si=2tFJhX0vZMGyBhIK
