2025-04-24 19:37:31 +0000 UTCSo often I want to leave a comment but it feels like you said everything that needed to be said over the course of the video. Gabi is absolutely becoming another Eren, a child who grew up in the shadow of oppressive walls, ignorant of the wider world, suffering unimaginable trauma and embracing a path of violence. We’re in the same situation at 1x2 watching a kid dedicate themselves to righteous vengeance but as an audience and the journey we’ve been on, our reactions to the two identical set of events couldn’t be more different. I love season 4 so so much. #GabiGang And my favorite ice cream flavor is gonna be chocolate, I’m a basic boy 😅

2025-04-23 22:57:06 +0000 UTCI don't comment much, so hi! Absolutely loving these s4 reactions, can't wait for the next one!! The main reason I love the whole beginnning of this season is just how much they humanized the Marley "side" (not Marley itself, but the people living there - even the gate guards trying to save Gabi or the Panzer unit saving Pieck in this ep). I really love the canditates (Gabi and Falco especially) and feel for them so much bc they're literally just kids in this horrible situation they can't do anything to fix. So I've always been quite annoyed when (the few times I've watched different reactors get to this point) people instinctively start "cheering" (or just getting hype) when Eren destroys that big building full of innocent people or when our Survey Corps is going around killing those people (which I don't even blame them for, but come on, we're not really supposed to be happy about it), just because it looks cool and they've been our main characters for 3 seasons. Even Zofia dying & Udo getting trampled was more or less forgotten after it happened. So even if they "get" that this attack wasn't a good thing - or that the show itself is anti-war, they still tend to feel like "the Marleyans had it coming" and kinda disregard the episodes that were supposed to make us understand the other side isn't some big, cartoonishly evil entity, but is made up of all sorts of people - some more or less evil, some misguided, some good natured despite the propaganda they've been fed, some innocent kids etc. We're supposed to understand that continuing the cycle of violence & war is wrong, no matter the side doing it. I was 100% sure that you would see the parallels here, and I'm glad you did! I especially love the fact that we have Gabi as such a direct parallel to Eren - really drives home the whole point in a great way. Excited for the upcoming reactions! <3 Also, favorite ice cream flavour is either tiramisu or oreo :)

2025-04-23 13:38:13 +0000 UTCWhole heartedly disagree. Doesn't matter that Gabi is aware and even then she's not FULLY aware either. She's only aware of what she's been told by everyone around her much like Eren was too. She's a child that's been brainwashed her entire life into believing a narrative that isn't true. You're expecting a child to have a critical thinking skills. She's a kid. She can believe a narrative and STILL NOT fully grasp what exactly the consequences are to her actions and decisions. Much in the same way Eren acted brash and threw himself into dangerous situations without critically thinking. The issue is when we attempt to enforce adult behaviours onto literal children and then condemn said children for not acting in accordance. Child soldiers will actively advocate for the death of their enemies but when faced with the reality of war often find themselves confused and torn. We don't condemn them the same way we shouldn't condemn Gabi. They are two sides of the same coin Gabi and Eren. Both are thrust into a war they don't fully understand and both have suffered immensely as a consequence. They are the reality of what it means to be children within conflict. The issue with your perspective is that you are expecting Gabi to behave and act older than she is. Much in the same way people were frustrated at Reiner, Bertholdt, and Annie. They are KIDS. They're not supposed to act rationally. If anything this show realistically depicts just how traumatising it is to expect children to behave like battle hardened soldiers when they are not mentally equipped to do so due to age but also because they lack a thorough and complete understanding of the world.

2025-04-23 13:19:06 +0000 UTCGabi isn't in the exact situation as Eren was though, I don't know if this will sway your opinion or not, but... Gabi knows the history of Eldia and Marley, as well as the details of Marley's attack on Paradis. As a Warrior candidate, she relished the thought of exterminating her fellow Eldians. Expecting Paradis to simply lie down and die without fighting is naive - and saying she does not know why Zofia and Udo had to die is immature - but deep down, in my opinion, she knows the reason and chooses to ignore it. Eren by comparison didn't even know he lived on an island until a few years ago. I'm not sure what my point is, but being angry and informed doesn't quite seem the same as angry and confused, to me.

2025-04-23 12:27:06 +0000 UTCThat's what I thought. The way they both grit their teeth in the aftermath of violence they don't fully understand (Eren 1 x 2 and Gabi 4 x 6) is identical. They both express an inability to understand what is going on. They both struggle to comprehend why this has happened. They both SWEAR REVENGE for the deaths they've witnessed against those they view as the enemy. Eren and Gabi are the same. Two children forced into violent acts of revenge because of a conflict that was thrust upon them. They are two sides of the same coin. Paradise and Marley.

2025-04-23 11:52:41 +0000 UTCMagath's ambiguity/grayness is often overlooked by this part of the story so it is so nice to see you hang on his every word and understand him as much as it is possible by this point. You had the same exact reaction with Gabi that I had when I first watched the show. I just immediately jumped to the "Gabi is Eren" argument. Always wondered what it would be like if Eren was born in Marley. Although Reiner is his parallel in a lot of things, he obviously is very different from Eren, yet, by this point in the story, can't possibly imagine Eren being different than Gabi in anyway, if he was born in Marley. There is, I believe, even a scene in the first season where Eren does the exact same gritting teeth expression as Gabi did in this episode but looking at the left instead(Gabi is looking at the right). That has to have been done on purpose, right? Favorite ice cream flavor for me, it is actually two, especially if together. Coconut and Coffee ^^
