2025-03-22 22:08:22 +0000 UTCI'd suspected a familial connection the first time we saw Zeke due to the ears and the similar glasses to Grisha. I'd mentioned it in passing back in S2 but hadn't dwelled on it until we saw that Grisha wasn't from the walls. Then the fact that Grisha is from Beyond The Wall means that he likely had a life before coming here and from that you can easily make the deduction that he has child. The mention of 'father' means that it has to be someone significant and also someone we have met. Purely by logical deduction as someone whose from outside the walls and Zeke's obsession with the walls = Grisha. Not to mention there's an overlay in one of these episodes [can't remember which one specifically] where Grisha's memory flashes and it cuts back to Zeke. The familial resemblance is striking and confirms it all the more. I've finished S3 so I know that Zeke is Grisha's son with Dina :) So not a spoiler.

Armin might be alive, but might a part of him have died the day he ate a people he once deemed a friend? Saying Armin didn't die in this episode might not be entirely true. Is coming back alive enough to say one survived war? S class tier animation, music and story, but it pains so much. Cried with you today, rewatching these scenes. Took me back. Stay strong Sophie*

The first thing he said to Keith Shadis is something like "Why are you exploring outside the walls?" 1) He knows that the walls exist 2) That they should not be going outside of it 3) He remembers he's a doctor (and was able to cure a plague) 4) HIS GOAL WAS TO GO AFTER THE FOUNDING TITAN! I'm not trying to dog on you just trying to say don't take information at face value in this series. Just have in the back of your head "Does this person have a reason to lie?" 2025-03-11 23:28:20 +0000 UTCfwiw I actually have no idea how you have the willpower not to binge watch the whole season in a day lmfao once you hit s3e16 and onwards. The only reason I didn't was because I watched it live 6 years ago hahaha. NOTE: I'm sure you know this already, but after season 3, there's a lot of changes to the show. Don't jump into season 4 immediately, although I guess you have Lost Girls to do, anyways (my favorite batch of OVAs!). I think you will need more time to process season 3 before jumping into season 4, which is honestly it's whole own thing in some sense. The animators changed (they are better than Wit Studio after season 4 part 2, imo), a new musical composer gets added alongside the current one to add new songs (he's amazing), and obviously there's a lot that has to change with the show now. Some people love season 4, some people hate it. The end of the show though is my personal favorite stretch of it all, but it was the hardest stretch of the show for me to watch, personally, haha.

He was just trying to deceive Eren, because if Eren knew he was willing to die, Eren wouldn't have gone along with the plan. Armin's heroism lies not only in the act of his death in battle, or the succesful plan to deceive the almighty Colossal Titan, but even more in his willingness to deceive his best friend, for the first time ever. And for the last time, since he is completely and utterly dead: D-E-D, dead. (Yes, I know 3x20 and such, but it's more fun to keep up the game)

Even with full context of the show it's hard to ignore the incredible effort made to have this battle be one for the ages. I have a lot of respect for you for being comparatively more open-minded about Reiner and Bert these past few episodes. By the way, by saying you're "up to 3x20", does that mean that you've watched that episode? Can't wait to see that one

I was more just pointing out that Isayama is a master in subverting expectations in multiple ways while respecting character arcs. There are layers to his writing that could be enjoyed even by the most perceptive/literate of his readers/viewers.

Remember how shook up Armin was killing just one person for the first time in order to save Jean on the wagon. If Armin is brought back as a Titan how big of a human killer will Armin become in a war beyond the walls? Making Armin kill hundreds if not thousands of people as a Titan would really be like turning him into a mass killer like Darth Vader. Let Armin rest as an angel not bring him back as a devil.
