Uncut Death Note 30

Comments

Funny you say that, the Death Note One-Shot Sequel touches heavily on that.

I'm certain america's current government would sell out to Kira :/

Merry

I think it was within 24 hours and on the lower end. He was still completely clean shaven on his deathbed. He was probably unconscious for 4-10 hours.

Light makes the biggest single slip there, which is why Near reacts so strongly. When Light asks the Shinigami a question, Near recalls the fact that the Shinigami is attached to the owner of the notebook - i.e. the owner of the notebook is in the room

That's what I always thought, he would have died to those injuries, just slightly later. And I don't think it was told how long he was alive, but assuming that they had some kind of operation to try to save him. Then the conversation with Light would be maybe like 2-48 hours after he made the contract.

Personally, the biggest disagreement I have with this show is the idea that the world would actually become more peacefull if all criminals start to die. Beyond all the moral and ethical discussions about wether or not it is ok to kill criminals (which I stand firmly on the "it's not" camp), pragmatically speaking it just wouldn't work like that. That whole idea is based on the premised that "crimes happens because evil people are evil, so if we eliminate all evil people we also eliminate crime". But that premise is flawed in my opinion. Firstly because "crime" is a man-made concept and it changes description and prescription depending on who you ask, when and where (i.e, in some places being gay is still a crime). So at the end of the day it comes down to what Kira himself considers to be a crime (like you said, he doesn't seem to care much about killing corrupt polititians as long as their actions are not thecnically against the law). But even if we want to consider the things that are generally considered to be crimes (robbery, murder, etc), those are more related to the material conditions that people live with more so then their moral characters. So punishing all people who break the law, but not changing poverty and inequality would only be hiding the dirt under a hug. It seems like Light is more concerned with creating a world without "uglyness", but doesn't know or care to solve the underlying issues with it.

The only thing I could find in this episode was when the US President announced they would no longer oppose Kira it could trigger the Chief's heart condition. I think what's more likely that I overlooked was he just would have succumbed to his injuries from the explosion and gunfire later than he did.

This is the first time I'm watching with this in mind, but I'm curious to see something. Chief Yagami took the eye deal cutting his lifespan in half. I want to see if there's something in this episode that jumps out to me like "This is the moment he would have died if he maintained his original lifespan."
