I don’t believe Hanji was criticizing Keith for the deaths that occurred under his command. Rather, her frustration seems directed at his decision to abandon his responsibilities on the front lines. When she says, 'Screw your inferiority complex. Don’t run from reality,' she is calling him out for retreating instead of persevering. Her words, 'Isn’t that what vowing to give our hearts was about?!' reinforce this idea—that true leadership means continuing to push forward despite the losses. Many soldiers perished under Erwin, Levi, Hanji, Miche, and others, yet they all pressed on, ensuring that those sacrifices won't be in vain, which I believe is 'atoning for their deaths', that their deaths will have meaning in the end. She isn’t blaming Keith for them but rather expressing her disappointment that he chose to step away from his duty instead of honoring the fallen by continuing the fight.

I don't think I've ever seen subs that include the "this." He does say it though (others do as well in other scenes but I haven't listed them, alas), and it's not grammatically necessary for him to. That being said, I think in Japanese it can be a simple turn of phrase, where in English I'd definitely understand it as indicating there's another humanity somewhere. So it's understandable that the subs don't include it, but it's a cool tidbit! (Boilerplate disclaimer: English isn't my first language and I am nowhere near fluent in Japanese.)

I am such a sucker for a good Snape-esque character and Keith is an excellent character. I want to leave this comment just to appreciate that Isayama's minor characters (Keith, Kenny, Ymir, Uri, Frieda) all are such incredible characters that are not designed for people to like them, but they are so unapologetically themselves all while serving the purpose in the overall narrative and themes. Genius isn't a word I use lightly and often, but Isayama is just that.

Poor Jean, always getting blamed for breaking Eren's gear in episode 1x03 when It was Keith all along, lol. Episodes 3x10 and 3x11 are so fascinating with all of these subtle themes and ideas that you have been picking up and that will be discussed at length later on the show. They also have such a different rhythm from previous episodes. We get a chance to take a step back for a little bit and look at the context of everything that is happening. I have been waiting so long for you to get to this part of the story and you videos have not disappointed. Thank you so much for sharing all of your theories with us. It is always a treat having a reactor capable of clearly articulating their ideas and thought process and adding so much value to the show with their insights. And yet there's been numerous discussions surrounding whether God is truly evil because of his refusal to grant paradise unless you blindly comply with his will. But again paradise in biblical terms did not have the underlying issues that society in AOT does e.g. paradise is not possible if there's underlying systems that prevent peace and prosperity for all such as a war brewing and class structures / wealth disparity 😊

I actually disagree that I'm the longest. I've seen others at the same point as me running with the theory. I've also gone back and forth between titans as a separate entity and being human continously throughout so I have not died on the hill of it being either one or the other. It's pretty normal for most first time watchers to believe even at this point in the story. Stating that "I'm the longest reactor" to believe this theory really isn't true at all and feels a little patronising like "Oh you didn't get it for so long unlike everyone else who clocked it at the end of S2" when S3 literally throws you off by making it appear that Titan Shifters are a separate entity to just being human. There's also reactors that won't even delve into discussing the show in depth so again not sure it's a fair assessment to say I'm the longest when there are reactors who don't even make their thought process clear at this point in time 🤷‍♀️

I think the reason why Keith yelled at Carla was because he felt like he was out there risking his life for everyone (like the army) and he receives no reward, no love, no…..validation. Grisha was the only person to give him a taste of validation. There is a lot one can learn from Keith. DO NOT DO THINGS FOR EXTERNAL VALIDATION, you do things because you want to do them not because you want praise. In my eyes, Keith does deserve praise. He does deserve being validated, but he receives none and he needs to find a way to work around that.

I see Hange’s scene a little differently. She isn’t mad about his lack of atonement, she is mad that he left his responsibilities for a selfish reason. She could accept if he felt guilty but instead she finds out he stopped fighting when he didn’t feel special anymore

One thing i fucking love about this show is how important characters dont get what they want sometimes. Some may but some also dont. And some die before they ever get it. Thats probably one of the most realistic aspects of this show which i love so much.

Im glad you got out of that belief. You are not the only one to think titans are a separate entity EVERY REACTOR IVE SEEN DOES THIS(ive seen at least 11 different reactors to this show). the only difference is what triggered you to think so. I think most people start to solidify the “titans are a separate entity” belief once they see the beast titan and him controlling other titans. HOWEVER They usually drop that belief once the beast titan shifter is revealed at the end of Season 2. They realize everyone is human. Your reactions is the longest I’ve ever seen someone hold on to the “titans are a separate entity” belief. But do know this isn’t just you everyone has done this. Including myself.

ADR is Additional Dialogue Recording. You simply create a new audio track and record in parallel to playing the video, then cross-fade the channels to replace the missing words. There's certain to be a bit of room tone difference. Maybe that takes longer than typing on second thought LOL, but maybe not by much if you get the hang of it.

Around 56:18 you say "This is going to be a pain to edit" because of the length, and I'm just cringing on past you's behalf because of all the extra work you had to do -_- In all honesty though it came together really well and wasn't too jarring. Oh it just 100% re-asserted to me that Grisha did this to protect those within the walls because he fundamentally believes that whatever is coming is going to push humanity to the brink. As a man of principle - it's clear that he cares so much for those within the walls that he was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice by allowing his son to consume him to gain the abilities to avenge his mother and stand up against the oncoming threat!

The way Grisha talks about the scouts is chilling somehow, the seriousness with which he stares at Keith when replying "yes" to the question of whether Scouts are heroes stuck with me after the episode ended. This episode gives us very little about Grisha's background, but I feel like it gives a lot of insight into who he is, and most of it is in how he responds to questions from Kieth throughout.

Bystander is geniunely one of my favorite episodes in the entire show. I LOVED the "reveal" of Shadis and his connection to everything. The emotion, the music, the honest and truth reflection that takes place, it all plays so well. Excited for the reaction to my all time favorite portion of AOT out of seasons 1,2 and 3.
