Because there's not that many episodes left but I do like the whole idea of wondering if L has indeed set a larger trap in place that Light isn't aware of! Like a final laugh at his expense. So that has me excited for every episode!

2025-02-15 21:13:47 +0000 UTCWhen I watched this show as a teenager, I didnβt like this part of the show as much because I liked L and it felt to me like they killed L for the shock and then introduced a knockoff L so as not to tie their hands with the story. As an adult I have a lot of appreciation for this part of the show because it offers a lot of character exploration, including understanding L a bit more by proxy through two characters who areβas you saidβlike two halves of L split out. I think you will enjoy the rest of the show because you have a far better eye for subtext than Iβve ever had

2025-02-15 20:06:14 +0000 UTCIt's been like that since I watched in DUB. Seems to be a common thing for the Death Note DUB that they didn't translate the Japanese writing. May be different on the Blu-Rays or streaming services but Death Note isn't available on any streaming services for me so having to watch it unofficially. It is what it is - it hasn't impeded my understanding of the show. And yes I did catch the time jump but when it was explicitly stated as I was too busy focusing on Near to look at the bottom of the screen. I usually tune it out when there's Japanese symbols because I know it's not translated with Death Note so I just presume I won't be able to read it anyway :)

The first scene took place in 2007, the rest of this episode is in 2012, so thereβs a 5 year time jump. Mello is 19 now. Your version didnβt translate all the subtitles explaining what happened in the 5 year gap either for some reason. Edit: never mind, realized you caught the time gap like, 20 seconds after I commented this π
