Uncut Death Note Ep 26
Added 2025-02-11 20:37:31 +0000 UTCI had audio issues with my mic so my voice cuts in and out. I tried to fix it as best I can by adding in subtitles but yes - it is super annoying and happens from Ep 26 to 29. I was not happy but had to make do with a bad situation!

Yeah I agree. They even show that Misa doesn’t really care about Rem in the beginning when she tells Misa how a shinigami can be killed. Misa jokes about killing Rem and immediately claims she’ll tell Light despite Rem telling her not to. It’s an entirely one sided relationship

2025-02-14 17:33:54 +0000 UTCThat funeral scene, I think - is the ultimate piece of evidence against Light Yagami defenders. L wasn't a criminal, he was simply someone who opposed Light Yagami. And he stands on his grave and laughs like a maniac calling himself a God. And then I remember Raye Penber. I remember Naomi Misori - how he mocked her as he commanded her to commit suicide in such a way she would never be found. They were not criminals. They simply opposed him. Light Yagami is indefensible.

2025-02-14 06:30:56 +0000 UTCIt's not so much wanting to see Misa care about her but wanting to see that extra level of manipulation. I just think it's a writing cop out to not include it at all or even reference to it tbh.

2025-02-12 06:30:40 +0000 UTCThere's other scenes in those specials that are also interesting to see. But due to possible spoilers they're probably better to watch after finishing the series.

2025-02-11 22:43:07 +0000 UTCYeah, kind of agree that the portrayed character of Misa wouldn't even blink an eye if she was told that Rem died or that Light killed Rem. But her character still is so inconsistent, she's just written to fill multiple roles to support Light's character without having proper character herself. It's infuriating because there's potential and room to develop her as well.

2025-02-11 22:35:19 +0000 UTCThe funeral scene wasn't cut from the original series. It was actually just added/changed later for the movie version (two 2-hour specials containing a condensed story of the tv series).

2025-02-11 22:25:10 +0000 UTCI have only seen the anime but apparently we get to know a bit more about Misa depending on the adaptation, at least in the 2006 film adaptation there seems to be some more background info on her. I think both the Netflix film (2017) and the musical change the story quite a lot so I guess Misa's character arc is also a bit different there. The anime probably is the closest to the manga. It is very common in older anime to have pretty simplistic characters that follow certain tropes like Misa being a yandere. Since you can recognize these tropes right away they often don't spend much effort on developing the character further, which is sad but I guess it is what it is. I think in more recent anime these simplistic character designs are less common, although they still appear in "trashy" anime as well as in parodies like i.e. konosuba or generally for comedic relief

2025-02-11 21:56:42 +0000 UTCI agree it would have been nice to see Misa’s reaction to Rem’s death, but I think it would be inconsistent character writing if Misa actually cared about it. I don’t think the series has shown Misa even once care about Rem, other than some light banter just cause she’s around. We see Rem care so much about Misa you just kinda assume the feelings would be somewhat mutual. But Misa is a psychopath nearly just as much as Light. When she’s introduced she’s killing innocent news anchors like it’s nothing. She offers to kill her friend if Light just asks her to. When Rem asks her to keep the secret of how to kill a Shinigami, Misa doesn’t care whatsoever and immediately tells Light once she meets him. I completely agree the story could be more interesting if Misa was written as a more dynamic character, but given that 26 episodes in the author has established her as a very one-dimensional, psychopathic character, I think I’d be more disappointed if she just suddenly started caring about Rem.

2025-02-11 21:52:59 +0000 UTCI really like the funeral scene too, but I'm also kinda glad it's cut out because of like you said about slowing down the decline into madness.

2025-02-11 21:13:47 +0000 UTCI’m a simple man. I see Sophie, I’m happy. Audio issues or not, I know you’ll always put 1000% into whatever you do.
