Uncut Death Note Ep 25

Emotionally - I am not over this episode.

I still haven't psyched myself up yet to watch Ep 26 onwards...

Guys let’s hope she doesn’t over analyse the scene as it’s not completely safe even after ep 26

Szaleos

I remember watching this scene and feeling really happy he finally beat L. But the symbolism to Christianity in this show is amazing lol

Broderick

This scene always felt to me less like him being malicious and more like Kira's deranged attempt at celebrating his victory despite knowing he lost his equal and the one person who didn't bore him.

"I don't want to watch this show anymore" Your tears weren't wasted, Doctor. It cuts pretty deep to see a dubious, duplicitous, dastardly, weasel such as Light prevail over L. I remember reeling watching this late night on TV 17+ years ago and was partly pleased that the story dared to go in this direction, hell I thought this was the end and the next ep. was the going to be the finale.

Ah yes I agree! I've only watched a summary of the live action movie's plot, and I find its change in plot quite clever.

Now I can finally say I’ve been super impressed that you’ve been predicting L’s death around this time for several episodes! Like, 99% of reactors meta-game their prediction by knowing how many episodes there are, and therefore are in complete denial that L could die in episode 25 and spend most of the episode just theorizing how L will escape. It was so refreshing that you clocked it immediately and were properly emotional for the entire episode. One cool detail is that L never blinks or closes his eyes the entire series. This last scene as he dies is the first time we ever see L with his eyes closed. I think it’s great symbolism that this entire time, Light has essentially had a leash on him as he’s been constantly observed by L. But now that L’s eyes have closed, he’s free to do as he wishes. Chilling.

It would be totally safe to watch this after episode 26.

I have watched this scene so many times and it never fails to break my heart to see my boy L die like that.

Midnight_Kitty

Still hits hard to lose L. I was honestly expecting you to just shout "fuck you Light", when they show him grinning at L. I'll say that I prefer the outcome that the live action movie of Death Note has with these events. It changed some things, and even when that wasn't less emotional, it didn't let Light to completely celebrate the victory.

Hezer

It's a scene from the "movie cut" of the series, where some scenes were redesigned to fit in a movie/special format. There is at least one spoiler that hasn't been shown yet. Would be better to watch it after the next episode.

Hezer

it's been like 10+ years since I watched this, but I honestly had completely forgotten about this happening lol

R3

I second this, that scene is just something else.

I'd love to see you react to the cut scene from this episode. Its on youtube and is genuinely one of the best scenes (in my opinion) that perfectly shows just how malicious Light really is. Theres no spoilers in the clips. https://youtu.be/gqA0xZuaEuE?si=4vE3c3Xbn4OfWbqk
