Uncut Death Note Ep 24
Added 2025-02-04 14:53:33 +0000 UTCIgnore the first part! I forgot to edit that clip and I've already edited for the YT version so cba re-doing everything for a blip about 30 seconds long!
That's how I record - two separate screens and then put it together in post :P

I literally had a giggle fit in a japanese exam once because one of the kanji words was 'keikaku'. (I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one)

2025-03-05 14:58:19 +0000 UTCI love how Ryuk shows care for a human for the first time in this episode. When Misa asks to do the eye deal, he actually asks if she’s sure and explains the consequences to give her a chance to reconsider. This wasn’t necessary, he could have just immediately accepted. Such an interesting touch to his character. Misa really is the shinigami magnet!

2025-02-05 04:12:26 +0000 UTCI have the same feeling as you about Light. He's gone completely evil now and it's impossible to like him or sympathise with him at this stage. Him and his evil smirks just makes me so maddddd lol he's giving psychopathic killer vibes at this point

2025-02-04 18:39:08 +0000 UTCShe didn't gain her memories because it wasn't her notebook. It was Light's but the Shinegami in possession of it at the time was Rem as it passed from Ryuk to Rem. Which is why Misa's notebook also has Ryuk attached because it passed from Rem to Ryuk! All the Death Notes also went through Light's hands too which to me is his memories being placed into both books :) That's how I interpreted it.

2025-02-04 17:42:36 +0000 UTCJust according to Keikaku. (Translator's note: Keikaku means plan) https://i.imgur.com/t1ULjMv.jpeg An old but classic anime meme, when fan subs were more common and translations were less reliable. Some fan translators insisted certain Japanese words to stay in the subtitles because they couldn't properly be translated, this particular scene became a meme because the translator note was completely unnecessary.

2025-02-04 17:35:33 +0000 UTCThat hadn’t really occurred to me and wasn’t my interpretation. I was under the impression Misa hadn’t had her memories returned because she only touched a scrap of paper. I think the true motivations behind it was switching which Shinigami owned which notebook and the reasons behind why that would be a benefit to Light.

2025-02-04 17:27:36 +0000 UTCThe revelation of Light’s plan is one of the most iconic moments in anime. This whole episode is just him intellectually flexing on everyone the entire time lmao. Like you said, you can’t help but admire him, despite the clear evil being shown

2025-02-04 17:19:32 +0000 UTC8:35 - yup, you were a bit early on your speculation. Light had already considered that he might only get partial memories or no memories back. This episode is just so good, even if the demise for L is overshadowing the future. Just the extent that Light had trusted himself to hunt for the new Kira with L. And the gamble that he would get hold of the notebook in a way that allows him to secure the ownership again. And Ryuk is just our friend watching the show along with us, it's nice to have him back. 🤣

2025-02-04 16:27:33 +0000 UTCIt's to switch the Shinigami's between the books and his memories. Rem ends up tied to Light's Death Note but we were unaware in the earlier episode's and presumed it was Misa's Death Note. Which is why when Rem touched Misa with the paper she did not regain all her memories, but when Light regained the book he did. Misa had to find the buried book in the woods which is her Death Note but now tied to Ryuk and gained her memories back. Light was the owner of both Death Note's still so when he relinquished 'his Death Note' to Rem and transferred ownership, he retained his memories because his memories had also been transferred to Misa's book hence Ryuk staying by his side. It was only when he relinquished Misa's book did he lose all his memories but it also allowed Misa to reclaim her Death Note when she found it in the woods. I don't think I need to re-watch it :) I grasped it pretty clearly.

2025-02-04 16:09:06 +0000 UTCYou should rewatch the scene with the 3-way death note swap. There are so many reasons for Light to go through all of that and it’s not really ever explained.
