Uncut AOT 2 x 12
Added 2025-01-05 11:30:07 +0000 UTCEmotionally - I am not okay.
Also it goes without saying. No hand holding in the comments. If I've missed something then I've missed something. Do not try and point stuff out to me. I want the show to explain it to me so I can come to the conclusions myself! Thank you!
Enjoy the ramblings of a mad woman at the end. This is a long one at 1 hour and 6 minutes haha!!

Well. I’m sure there are people who disagree with me, so there is no perfect answer. Maybe a Poll would be good and stop complaining

2025-01-13 22:08:01 +0000 UTCI'll definitely look into it because omg the hate I got for switching to the DUB of Death Note was wild!! Even though the DUB is really good!!

2025-01-13 18:46:43 +0000 UTCI’d love you to watch Cowboy Bebop and Fullmetal. But I’d prefer both in English. Large amounts of the fans watched them in English - they’re probably the best an English dub can get. (And by no means do I have a prefer English. If you were watching Attack on Titan in English for example, I would not be here.) If you must, Fullmetal is fine in Japanese. But it would be a tragedy to watch Bebop in anything but English.

Sophie Anders
2025-01-07 15:43:40 +0000 UTCRule 1 of season finales in anime must be "Don't wear makeup", surely. Alternatively, you could rate an episode's emotional impact by counting mascara streaks.

2025-01-07 15:37:40 +0000 UTCYeah I think I mentioned that in a previous react in S1 about how they're a symbol of resilience despite the cruelty of the world in which they live and that there's always the potential to find beauty despite how dark everything around you appears! :)
Sophie Anders
2025-01-06 12:19:26 +0000 UTCYou're doing fine with your interpretation so far—there's nothing you've missed that you were meant to understand right away. All your questions will be answered in time, and everything will come together. By the way, I loved that scene with Mikasa and Eren. It really highlighted how incredible the voice acting is. I think Mikasa saw it as the end, which is why she chose to confess. Eren turning his back felt like his way of rejecting that ending, promising to continue wrapping the scarf around her, now and forever 45:15 - I don't think Erwin was talking about literally destroying the walls. I believe he was speaking metaphorically, referring to breaking down the 'walls' of truth or uncovering hidden truths.

2025-01-06 08:13:29 +0000 UTCRegarding your statements toward the end about not getting everything: That is on purpose, blame Isayama. His writing style intentionally obfuscates and gives only partial information. IMHO most of the people who act like they know everything about AOT only know what they do because they've watched each season multiple times or spent time on social media comparing notes with the rest of the community. FYI I managed to remain clueless about Reiner and Berthold for four years, all the way until S2 started airing, and then on episode 2 my friend I was watching it with who spends time on AOT Reddit spoiled it for me. >_< Their defense was that it was obvious.

2025-01-06 06:08:48 +0000 UTCEach season doesn't prepare you for the next imho. But then that's kind of the beauty of it. I've said before that I feel like the show almost changes the genre every cour. That is to say, the maturity of the story grows with the audience. If you were 13 when you read the first volume of AOT, you were going to be 24 by the time you were able to read the last one.

2025-01-06 05:59:26 +0000 UTCAbout the flowers: I always thought they were Purple Campanula (basically the purple version of bluebells) as for their meaning, there's a lot of interpretations. Bluebells are associated with disappointment and loss, but I don't think that's what these mean as they are purple bellflowers and I'm not aware of a connotation to that coloration (though that may be my ignorance). IMHO (without getting into spoiler territory) they seem to represent the beauty in the cruel world. We see them covered in Hannes' blood upon his death, and then we see them again unbloodied when Mikasa decides to profess her feelings.

2025-01-06 05:48:48 +0000 UTCWhile it's good to know there is an after credits on S3E12, I would also warn that it might imply some things about what is to come in part 2 of the season and it was added as a teaser for the anime because they were going on break but doesn't appear in the manga. I personally would skip it so I could go into S3 part 2 completely blind, but either way is fine tbh. Totally your choice as it is also something a lot of viewers may want to see your reaction to.

2025-01-06 05:35:31 +0000 UTCOne of the main themes of this series is hope and despair. Multiple times we are in a context of hope and it quickly becomes hopeless. Besides, I love Mikasa's line “The world is cruel, but also beautiful”

2025-01-05 22:11:54 +0000 UTCAhh, I very much hope you'll enjoy Season 3! The last 2 seasons are my favourite two, and that's saying something considering how good the first two are.

2025-01-05 21:52:36 +0000 UTCor "but it is a step towards the truth" could just mean... well it wasn't worth it but its better than loosing all those people for nothing - people are already dying either way but at least it turned out they learend something

2025-01-05 20:23:53 +0000 UTCOhh Evangelion has come up before so have that on the list but haven't heard of Mirai Nikki!! I'll note it!
Sophie Anders
2025-01-05 20:23:43 +0000 UTCI always interpreted the last line by this unknown character “not yet” towards us, the viewers in response to Erwin's hopeful dialogue about the truth.
ML Snow
2025-01-05 20:09:52 +0000 UTC"...you can be morally adverse to a situation but at the same time see no other means to pursue the truth or no other way out." I think a LOT of characters feel this - "What I'm doing isn't right, but I don't have another option." I imagine Levi feels that way as he reflects on how many titans he's killed, but I also imagine Reiner, Bertholdt, and Annie might feel that way as well (given they've all displayed emotional conflict in various ways). It's something of a contrast with what Levi was trying to teach Eren in the forest, which was to make a decision and not regret it. When the one option available to you is immoral, can you commit to it without regret? Can you carry on your actions even *with* regret? If you only have one option, and that option is immoral and regrettable and goes against your personal nature, is the decision to do it really your own? If the decision is not your own, are you still responsible for it? This is why this show is such a stand-out against others. Hopefully you won't find it hard to enjoy other media after experiencing this masterpiece.

2025-01-05 20:04:22 +0000 UTCif you need an even logner recommendation list, I tend to recommend evangelion and mirai nikki for after watching aot evangelions an actually good show whereas mirai nikki is a lot more flawed but worth analyzing for it and its definitely worth analyzing their influences/inspirations for each other though I won't say anything more about them
HAL
2025-01-05 20:02:38 +0000 UTCYeah, that's the dynamic that I've noticed from S1. Levi morally disagreeing with Erwin's actions but trusting him enough to at least follow orders as a soldier and to know that there is a larger goal at play, even if it is not one that he would personally pursue because every life is valuable. It's in 1 x 25 that Levi says something along the lines of "was it worth it?" and Erwin justifying the cost even if it meant they were no closer to finding the truth. That's what is so fascinating about this show is that you can be morally adverse to a situation but at the same time see no other means to pursue the truth or no other way out. I think it also speaks volumes as to their dynamic as well that Erwin ALLOWS Levi to openly disagree with him even though he's a subordinate. He could condemn him and shut it down but he doesn't because he values Levi's input even if they are on opposite perspectives!
Sophie Anders
2025-01-05 19:15:30 +0000 UTCI LOVE Levi's bewildered "wtf is wrong with you" face when he sees Erwin smiling. I also love the contrast between their approaches: Levi saying, "We'll run out of people before we learn the truth. It's not worth the cost," and Erwin saying, "But it is a step toward the truth," implicitly saying it *is* worth the human cost. It's definitely a difference in morals. How many human lives are you willing to spend to learn about your enemy? Levi says fewer, Erwin says more.

2025-01-05 17:17:15 +0000 UTCHistorical 3 Musketeer?! Okay that sounds awesome!! I'll add it to my list anyway :P Yes - I loved Sasha's too!! My top 5 episodes this season were: Ep 2 Ep 4 Ep 6 Ep 10 Ep 12
Sophie Anders
2025-01-05 16:57:08 +0000 UTCThis episode is so beautifully tragic. My favorite episodes of this season were Sasha's ep, the Big Reveal, and this one. Definitely a slow season, but worth it. One of my favorite anime with great re-watch value is Samurai Champloo. I would describe it as a historical 3 musketeer-like action comedy lol Hopefully, others request this as well so it can make it to your list 🥹

2025-01-05 16:48:00 +0000 UTCPotentially but I'm not going to google just in case that could pull up any spoilers of anyone analysing the flowers and their symbolism since I know I'm probably not the first to highlight their reoccurrence. I just went very broad in my research as I didn't want anything AOT to be pulled up so I looked at Japanese flower websites and the closest I could find was the blue lily :)

2025-01-05 16:14:29 +0000 UTCThe best thing to keep in mind - never stop an episode until you see 'to be continued'!! Some episodes, esp in S4 like you said, will play the end credits, then play another little scene after and finally end with to be continued. For S3E12, I can't remember if to be continued comes before or after the ending, but either way, I'm happy you'll make a note!! I'd also like to say how much I'm enjoying your AOT reactions - AOT was my first anime and I watched it a few months ago, and seeing you cry so much makes me so happy bc I cried just as much as you, so I feel like I can relive my first watch through you again!! I subbed to your Patreon for all the lovely reacts and to support you, so thank you for the lovely videos!

2025-01-05 15:59:09 +0000 UTCNever apologise! It was mentioned to me so I'm making a note to make sure I don't miss anything! Seems like there's a lot of after the show scenes in S3 and 4 so going to have to be on the ball!

2025-01-05 15:51:02 +0000 UTCThis isn't spoilers: Now that you're starting S3, some ppl may have mentioned already so apologies if you already know - When you reach S3 E12 (AOT EP 49), please also record your reaction to the ending. As in, the ending song that usually plays at the end of each episode, E12 is particularly special and is the only episode in the show with this ending, so please show us your reaction to the ending song. We'd love to see it!

2025-01-05 15:29:20 +0000 UTCI'm so here for the ramblings of a mad woman! For rambling, it sounded amazingly coherent to me haha. The rest of the story is going to be SO REWARDING for you given your perceptiveness, intelligence, and ability to empathize and sympathize with the diverse range of characters. It's wild that season 2 took place over the course of like 2 days (in story). Somehow, the story only continues to get better. Excited for you to have a million more questions but also get more puzzle pieces!! Haha

2025-01-05 14:23:04 +0000 UTCYAY!!! Trust me I've done so much research on this issue!
Sophie Anders
2025-01-05 14:20:15 +0000 UTCOh I know that it's based on Europe but the only flowers that match identically to the show are Japanese Iris's - these flowers also exist in Europe but they are known still as Japanese Iris's. Initially I looked at European flowers but the closest I could find was lilies but they didn't match entirely so I delved into looking at Japanese flowers because the author's background may still influence the symbolism that he includes (which it does as you'll see me discuss in the No Regrets OVA via the Blue Oni and Red Oni mythology). But it's also why I included the meaning of the iris's in both a Japanese and European context too just in case haha!! But the meanings in the language of flowers for both Japanese and European symbolism actually works extremely well to explain their relationship dynamic which I found fascinating. Just shows that Isayama REALLY thought everything through from beginning to end!
Sophie Anders
2025-01-05 13:22:40 +0000 UTCThis isn't really relevant to the story but since you mentioned searching for Japanese flowers; (if you don't wanna know some Trivia don't read further) AOT does not play in Japan, which is why a lot of characters have blonde hair and have mostly Germanic names like Erwin, Armin. Some of the are also pronounced with a Japanese accent like "Sasha Braus" pronounced as "Sasha Blouse". It's also why a lot of the OST is sung in german

2025-01-05 11:54:47 +0000 UTCTechnical question: anyone know how to solve the 'Unable to play video at this time. The number of allowed playbacks has been exceeded'? Thanks.
DFE
2025-01-05 11:50:20 +0000 UTCI don't think it needs to be said though as everyone here has watched the show numerous times bar me but even then I've grasped the differences so it does come across as hand holding or assuming that I don't know the differences. I know that probably isn't your intention but I think it's best to just presume that I know the information the show is giving so we can discuss the react itself and what happened :)
Sophie Anders
2025-01-05 11:43:12 +0000 UTCI know this? This information is already given throughout the show so I am fully aware of the differences and the symbols on the uniform haha! Please trust me to have more common sense and media literacy than the average reactor because that's base level knowledge given in S1. You don't need to explain every little nuance to me. Just trust that I understand it because I do.
