Uncut AOT 2 x 11

Google Drive was taking FOREVER to get this one processed haha!

Shall get AOT 2 x 12 and Levi's OVA out over the week.

I need to start practicing the new schedule ahead of this job starting. I'm intending to film Monday to Wednesday evening and then spend my evenings on Thursday to Sunday editing everything.

Can't really spend my weekend filming as I need the lengthier days to edit as each video takes around an hour to edit so 6 videos = 6 hours. Thankfully editing my intros and outros for Patreon saves me time for cutting stuff down on YouTube but yeah.

All a learning curve so if things are a little slower then that's why. There will be content posted weekly and you will still be ahead of YouTube so Early Access but it may just be I drop everything for the week on a Sunday OR I'll space it out as best as I can through the week.

[Need to film Levi's OVA tomorrow morning as I gave myself a headache from crying at 2 x 12 that I had to call it for the day!]

Sorry for the ramble - I'm still trying to figure out how to balance all this myself. I'm wondering if I might need to take a step back from Frieren for the time being which I really don't want to do because I'm scared I'll forget what's happening by the time I have chance to go back to it so shall see how everything goes. Hopefully I can continue to make it work!

The only sad thing for me about your reactions is that you don't watch the intros and outros, and i know that you have said you will react to all of them in the very end, still i think they are an enormous part and add to pleasantries of experiencing this show as the music is incredible and the art style is magnificent, and for me listening to them after won't have the same effect because then it is not associated with that specific season or the time when you have watched it, and later you may not have the same feelings or nostalgia. Though some might give a spoiler because they use the scenes from future episodes, intro from season 2 considered to not contain any(or just the tiniest amount), and many of the others intros of AOT and other animes also safe to watch, or watch at the very end of the season at least. But in the end it's just an experience and opinion of guy who grew up with cartoon themes from 2000's that are permanently stuck in my head))

for such a dark world full of grey characters it has a surprising amount of characters that are admittedly better people than me

HAL

ymir forced reiner and bertholt to wait and get historia so clearly it wasn't their initiative to offer her safety in exchange for historia

HAL

ultiamte erwin badassery

HAL

but who decides when something fits? most good storeis have some political meaning to them

I think there's a difference between simply having a lesbian in your show and being woke, though I suppose many people would disagree and call even that woke. IMO I would begin to think of something as woke if it either prioritizes inclusion to the detriment of reality and believability, or preaches about social issues in a place where it doesn't fit. Say, if 9/10 of the main characters were gay, that would be unbelievable for a randomly sampled group and make me think the show is tending towards wokeness. Or say, the next episode had a 5 minute long segment about how the walls' society looked down on Ymir for being a lesbian, I would think that doesn't fit in the show and that it was only added because a writer wanted social commentary. Of course, none of this is to say wokeness = bad show (I know woke is such a nebulous buzzword by now, but I'm going by my above criteria). I very much enjoyed steven universe, a show that wears its wokeness on its sleeve, because they actually put effort into the writing (most of the time.) The issue for me is when wokeness becomes a substitute for actual substance (and unfortunately this is often enough to notice a pattern), or when involving the double standard in casting. That is, wherein white actors playing non-white characters is (rightly) called out as whitewashing, but the inverse cases, with non-white actors playing roles like the king of england are simply brushed off as a casting decision, when in reality there is as much intent behind such decisions as there was behind the similarly bad decision to cast John Wayne as Genghis Khan.

Take your time! But once it drops we'll drop whatever we will be doing and watch. Just so you know.

Best thing i very impressive about your reaction video is how deeply u care about the Ost. music, cause i am musician and vocalist that i feel very love this Aot Ost. Its very intense, love u how you remember the ost. Same as 2x1 , very impressive.

- When I first saw this episode I think it was the first time I noticed the way Ymir looks off to the left whenever she's going to say something I think is a lie. It's such a great bit of animation consistency. I think it happens every time. The question I had was who she's lying to most in those moments, others or herself. And if it's herself does she believe it? Personally I didn't think she bought her own bullshit and was genuinely surprised Historia did. Also interesting for a character who has promised themselves to stop lying to themselves. - You're asking a lot of good questions as usual :D - I love the imagery through the whole Historia and Ymir conversion. The flowing river, the flower, etc. Seems awfully romantic, I'm just saying. - I love the moment of the scouts pleading to Berthold. I remember the first time I saw this how much his response cemented in my mind that he and Reiner were some variety of victims. (I mean, anyone sent to commit mass murder at the age of 12 is already a victim, but you know what I mean.) I don't blame you at all for getting teary eyed at this moment because it really is so well done. - I love Armin's moment in this episode, but it's so obviously and hilariously in "Manga Time" if you look too closely at it, because there's no way they could converse like that with all those titans trying to eat them. Still so excited for your continued journey!

Colleague: "Hey, are you okay? You come in here with red eyes at least once a week. And then you sometimes have these emotional breakdowns during the day." Sophie: "No, no, I'm good. I'm just watching AOT, Death Note and Frieren..." Colleague: "Ah, ok, makes sense."

ERWIN THE GOAT

Erwin casually made me a patriot of a place that doesn't even exists this episode

Interesting words you have. 😄 Can't wait for you to see the rest of the series. And thank you for all your work, much appreciated, and keep working on your own pace.

Thank you for saying it. Yes, i wanted to say it so bad. Ymir and Historia are the closest thing to a lesbian relationship. Also Hange was supposed to be a “they/them” non-binary. I fucking love this show. People say “go woke go broke” i show them this show.

Reginald

You know what i hate the most, how i cant say anything😅. Ill hear you theorizing and say something and im like ‼️ Or “yooo what???” Anyways tho, i love watching your videos. Im glad you got a new job but im sad you got a new job😅

GIRL JUST AS I WAS ABOUT TO GO TO SLEEP (I'll get up from bed)

Nina

That's too kind! It just comes from reading a lot of books haha! Trust me - there's a lot with this show that baffles my mind. You'll see in the outro of 2 x 12 that I'm just waffling because I'm so lost haha!!

Sophie Anders

You make me want to have a phone call with you an talk about story telling and understanding how stories are written😅😅 i can tell youre very wise

Reginald

I explained it in my 1x1 YouTube video in detail that the show appears to follow what is known as the hero's journey which is the call to action, meeting the mentor, and overcoming obstacles / trauma that is thrust into his life to achieve a goal which is protecting humanity. It's a common story-telling technique but the anti-hero journey often leads to the hero performing actions that are seen as condemnable or ones that we fail to morally reconcile ourselves with. From Eren's lack of control over his anger to the trauma he's witnessed which we can see has an impact on him - all of this will contribute to the development of his character and I also believe that he's going to have interactions that shift his moral view and could cause him to come into conflict with humanity and the walls. Which leads me to believe that he is going to enact behaviour that we believe is evil but turns out to be for the greater good of the world in general. The message of the show time and time again pushes the concept of those who can't sacrifice anything cannot change anything but also having to let go of one's humanity in order to win. If Eren has to let go of his humanity and embrace the monster then that is going to lead to him doing things that are morally condemnable even if it's for a greater purpose or justifiable in the end. Eren's the perfect candidate for the anti-hero because of the corruption within the society he lives, the trauma he has routinely undergone, the betrayals he has felt, as well as his desire to be free / kill all titans becoming an all consuming driving factor for him.

Sophie Anders

What makes you think he is going to be the anti hero?
