You need to get mods to filter the comments before you read them! When I was watching AOT, I had so much fun trying to put the pieces together. I really enjoy when you breakdown your theories with utilitarianism and socialization. Also, Season 2 is worth the rewatch, there are tons of information to take in and a lot of hints you might think are trivial end up being relevant 2 episodes later. Here is one hint that about this episode that won't give much away: . . . Hint is: "fashion". I'm pretty sure even people who watched it several time won't understand this hint ahaha.

I don't think I've heard any character pronounce her name Yameer. "ユ" in "ユミル" is "Yu" so unless the voice actor/actress read their script wrong, it should be Yu. Mike/Miche is a spelling debate, not a pronunciation debate. His name in the original Japanese is ミケ which is pronounced Mi - Kè. How subbers transcribe that into the spelling of his English name is what differs. No one is stopping you from pronouncing their name wrong, but wouldn't it be easier just to say Yumeer? Instead of having to constantly explain to people why you're saying it wrong? Just my two cents :)

Different characters pronounce it differently. Again, it's the whole Mike/Miche debate. Krista pronounces it more as 'Ya-Meer' so I went off of that. I'm deaf in my left ear. Pronunciations are not going to be perfect and that's something I'm okay with and others will need to be okay with too :)

Ymir's name is pronounced closer to 'Yu-meer,' not 'Ya-meer.' I believe the correct Norse pronunciation is 'Ee-meer.' You can use Google Translate to hear the Japanese pronunciation of names. I feel like this comment is giving away too much that isn't confirmed. I appreciate you wanting to let me know things but please let me come to the conclusions myself because I haven't come to that understanding yet. Just because it's clear to people that have full knowledge of the show does not mean it's been confirmed or is clear to me as of yet as a first time watcher. You are prompting me way too much and that could lead to giving away or directing my attention to things that I hadn't thought about because the show hasn't delved into it or given me enough information as of yet to make a final conclusion. I truly do get the excitement and enthusiasm but I would ask kindly to hold back on giving too much information or directing my attention. Trust me to come to the conclusions myself. I'd be interested to hear what other people think about this but for me, while there is of course a lot going on lore-wise around their relationship, pretty much everything about Ymir's attitude and actions around Historia can be explained by the fact that she is just deeply and genuinely in love with her. That is 99% of her motivation. As for Ymir's attitude to Bertholt and Reiner, despite what she says and her gruff and aggressive attitude, Ymir is one of the most selfless and kind people in the entire show, and she really wants to do what's best for them.

You can see in the outro that I am scrolling back and forth through the episode. I also read everything that showed up. If something hasn't come to me by now then it hasn't come to me and that's okay. I'm not going to get everything first time. If I've missed something then it's very evidently not something everyone will GRASP initially on a first watch. Just because something was missed doesn't mean it's because of a lack of attention. It's due to the fact that I don't know where the story is going or what information is 'crucial' - you have the hindsight of having watched the show already and knowing what's going to happen in a way that I don't :)

You should re watch this episode AND READ EVERYTHING SAID (both in and out of the ymir flashback) cause there was something important stated that i think you missed. SIDENOTE, Isayama(the creator of AOT) is such a genius that by season 2, you have most questions answered if you are paying attention. and you can have a solid understanding of alot of things by the end of season 2. But these past two episodes especially(9 n 10).

I go with the show…ユーミル　I believe is the spelling in Japanese. Direct translation.. yu-miru The Japanese silences the ending “u” sound(or puts less emphasis on it) yu-mir So maybe you’re closer to the correct pronunciation.

The pronunciation shifts from character to character making it hard to follow. I got shouted at for saying Mike and was told it was pronounced Miche, only to get shouted at again when I used that pronunciation because it was Mike 😂 Again, some say Ya-Meer and others Ee-meer.

I wont give it away! But during the boulder episode we knew eren’s whereabouts the entire time. So no the titan that ate marco was not eren. The timeline for eren was transform, attack mikasa cause he couldn’t control himself, pick up the boulder, seal the gate with the boulder, kill the remaining titans. Marco died somewhere during that whole event

It's a small detail, but it might help you sort through all the thought you're putting into this wild season :). When Berthold said, "You're saying to trust Ymir as a Warrior?" he was referring to Reiner as a Warrior as right before this question he asked Reiner, "Reiner, what are you right now?" In other words, he was checking to make sure the "Warrior" side of Reiner was the one trusting Ymir and not the "Soldier" side. Can't wait for more!!

I've been waiting for you to get to this episode because it's such an ambiguous lore drop. You've got so many pieces now, but are missing vital threads. I remember I sat with this episode for about a week and then one morning while making breakfast I just blurted out what turned out to be several huge core plot elements of the series XD. Of course at this point I had seen the first season more than three times so I had a bit of an advantage over you. By the way, this is mostly considered an Easter Egg, but if you look at the woman shaking her head at Ymir around the 21:14 mark of your video, you will notice that her hair and facial structure is essentially identical to the Titan from Ilse's notebook. She was also the person that was made into a Titan and thrown off the wall right before Ymir was. As you mentioned in your video, it is generally believed that this Titan confused Ilse with Ymir because they have a similar complexion and they both have freckles. So, the Ymir from Ilse's notebook and our Ymir are indeed the same person, but the full meaning of the title "Lady Ymir" is, clearly, deeper than this.
