That you managed to predict some of the twist ahead of time goes to show how well the seeds were planted back in season 1. It's the sort of thing most people don't catch until a rewatch after they've already seen the reveal. I was stunned when you managed to predict this so far ahead of time. It's also fun to hear your theories that are off the mark, some of them fit quite well.

2024-12-19 17:28:33 +0000 UTCRegarding the timeline, at the beginning of episode 1x07 we can see Reiner, Berthold and Annie together at the top of some houses. This was before Mikasa found out that Eren had been eaten, so probably a couple of hours after the initial attack. In that scene Annie asks: "Reiner, what should we do?" to which Reiner answers: "Nothing yet. If we do it, we do it all together". Remember that the Garrison engineers had devised a method to trap titans in front of the inner wall so Reiner was not able to just ram over the gate as he did the first time. So it seems that they were planning to attack the inner gate simultaneously but were unsure about how to do it. In the meantime, Mikasa talked with Armin, found out about Eren, and then rallied everyone to go to headquarters to try to resupply. Eren appeared at the end of that episode which probably made Reiner change his plans. In episode 1x08 we can see Reiner asking Connie about Eren's titan quite insistently, while Annie is eavesdropping pretending to do something else. You mentioned in your season 1 review that Reiner was quite Sus during these episodes, being very concerned about Eren and his Titan form and that Annie was always with him. If you look at those scenes again you will notice that Berthold was also always there and that he was being just as Sus. Armin mentions in episode 1x16 that he suspected that the Armored Titan not appearing meant that they may have changed their target to Eren. He also mentions that he thinks that Erwin has also reached the same conclusion. These suspicions are confirmed by Reiner in this episode when he says to Eren: "Our primary goal was to ensure all of humanity was wiped out, but now there is no need for that...If you agree to come with us we won't have to destroy anymore of the walls". All in all, the timeline for the Battle of Trost is quite messy, but once we have all the information it is possible to track what everyone was doing. Specially later on when we will be given even more information.

2024-12-18 23:48:06 +0000 UTCThe whole battle of Trost lasted several days, but the main combat was the two days. The Colossal attacked, Eren responded by attacking it, but it vanished. They then had to kill the titans attacking the people or at least slow them down so they could evacuate. They went to attack and Eren was eaten and his squad slaughtered the first 20 to 30 mins into the attack. I'd say maybe a hour or 2 passed and everything is going to hell and Mikasa is fixing to get killed. Eren transforms for everyone to see and starts destroying the titans. They recover him and evacuate to the other side of the wall, when all the fuss over Eren and what to do with him happens. Armin thinks quickly and comes up with a plan. They go over it and informs everyone on what is happening, when Pixis was on the wall announcing to everyone, and the next morning they executed the plan. That whole day is the events of Eren attacking Mikasa, them protecting Eren, Armin waking him up, and them fighting the titans to form a path for Eren and him plugging the hole. The next day maybe 2 or 3 is his recovery and the clean up of the bodies and damage to the city so people can return.

2024-12-18 23:46:40 +0000 UTC- Leading up to the moment of the reveal I counted 15 literal RED FLAGS in the backgrounds of shots, and many more after (I think these are the same three or four flags on the wall, but they kept including them in the shots for obvious reasons, those animators are such glorious trolls) - It always makes me laugh how many reactors suspect Reiner at some point, and even though he's ALWAYS with Berthold they never suspect Berthold is the colossal titan because he's so unassuming. - I definitely think the line from Reiner "We were just kids, we didn't know anything" is probably the most important line in the episode for me. Reiner and Berthold were around Eren's age when they broke the wall down. I believe the math works out to Reiner being 12 years old when he smashed through the Shiganshina gate. Berthold would have been the same I think, and Annie only 11. - Some reactors make a big stink about the fact that there were so many titan shifters in Eren's military squad, but if you think about it logistically it makes sense. (no spoilers, this was my reasoning when watching Ep6). If the titan shifters got into the walls by breaking down the wall and gate in Shiganshina (and they were just little children at the time), and then tried to move inward they would have been traveling roughly the same way Eren, Armin, and Mikasa were through the refugee camps. Speculating their goal was for one or more of them to get into wall Sina (as Annie did) they'd find the only way into Sina available to them was to join the military police, and that would place them enlisting pretty much exactly when Armin, Eren, and Mikasa do and so 104th cadet corps. - So much more to come and I can't wait, sorry for the wall of text!

I know it was same day but with how quickly the colossal attacked and then the armoured titan I was expecting a matter of minutes so that's what throws me because it was at least some time later that Eren transformed. The concept of time in AOT sometimes confuses me because so much happens in like minutes and I struggle to grasp how it's minutes cause it feels like it should be hours or days haha!!

As others have mentioned, watching people getting shocked by how casual Reiner's and Berthold's identity is revealed never gets old. I feel like season 2 is hard to analyze as a bunch of information is just dropped on you with no context whatsoever, so it is really hard to make sense of it. But don't worry, all your questions will be answered in due time. (Just to be replaced by new questions, of course, lol.) I still find it very enlightening how you can put together the themes the show is developing to try to figure out where the general plot of the show is going. It is very impressive indeed!

Just an FYI which you might already know but the crew that was not with Eren during the Annie capture don't actually know that Annie was the female titan or that she was captured, they kept it a secret because there was no knowing what would happen if Reiner and Bert found out their comrade has been captured.
