2024-12-08 13:44:21 +0000 UTCthey do kinda confuse themi n the show too cause well, when first seeing a titan the people odn't always know if its a human turning into a titan or just a very weird regualr titan, that's kinda hard to tell until you see it acting strategically or see someone come out of it so early on they call them aberrants cause they don't really know yet and they've known aberrants for a very long tiem and the concept of humans turnign into titans is pretty new and hard to beleive for them
HAL
2024-12-02 10:38:02 +0000 UTCit's kind aimplied they've all grown pretty close during training, erens pretty pissed every time what seems like a random background character they trained with dies
HAL
2024-12-02 10:35:33 +0000 UTCshe also... didn't kill him as the female titan whcih would have been quite advantageous for her and she didN't seem to have much issue killing other people
HAL
2024-12-02 10:34:24 +0000 UTCI mean... they ARE the MP - the primary police force in this world if they do somethign illegal its not like anyone can realyl stop them we just saw that and its unlikely to be sold on in that state anyways, I can't see much use for 3dm gear for most people, its likely they're gonna take it apart and repurpose its parts

2024-12-02 10:33:13 +0000 UTCnot sure armin went full anarchist here - well he's wit hthe rest of the scouts but also he's not really as much goign against the system as trying to fix it, they just wanna rebell for a bit to find evidence so they can then get the system on their side
HAL
2024-12-02 10:31:16 +0000 UTCMaybe it's done by the black market before sale? Does seem a little like an oversight but could just be they want to get it sold quickly as possible!

2024-12-01 16:43:28 +0000 UTCYeah, it doesn't explicitly show it in the anime, but the cadets spent three years together nonstop—training, eating, and sleeping side by side. They all formed a special bond. They were like family.

2024-12-01 11:13:43 +0000 UTCNever really thought about it before but... if you're selling MP equipment, wouldn't you take the emblem off the side?

2024-12-01 10:45:03 +0000 UTCWell there was a quote by Armin when he saw the Female Titan killing for the first time: "No, that's not an Aberrant, that's someone with ability like Eren's!". Then someone (I think it was Reiner) goes like "What makes you say that?", and Armin proceeds to explain that she didn't kill to eat, but rather killed to kill, and also points out that she's aware of the titan's weak spot. They did in fact called her Aberrant initially when they just met her, because it didn't really cross their minds at first that it could actually be a titan-shifter person. I think it's because the concept is just so wild for a regular soldier to grasp

2024-12-01 03:49:31 +0000 UTCI’ve always had a suspicion that Annie might have some feelings for Armin. One moment that stood out was when their equipment was being checked, and Annie asked which faction everyone was joining then after, Armin responded with something like, "You're actually a kind person, aren't you, Annie? You don't want us to join the Survey Corps." Annie looked genuinely shocked when Armin called her kind. Then in this episode, Annie initially refused Armin's request until he implied she would be a bad person to him if she didn’t help. When her identity was revealed near the end of the episode, her focus seemed to be on Armin's opinion of her. She asked him, "When did you start looking at me that way?" and, before transforming, said, "I'm glad I could be a good person to you, Armin." It feels like her emotions toward him influenced her actions in these key moments.

2024-12-01 00:27:47 +0000 UTCAnnie's reaction here after Mikasa begins to confront her always shocks me. She's so nonchalant and simply ready to face them, when earlier it seems like she cared about justice.

2024-11-30 21:15:35 +0000 UTCAh okay so I'm still using it right then haha!
Sophie Anders
2024-11-30 21:11:43 +0000 UTCYeah, because in the perspective of the troops, human titans are also aberrant.
Hezer
2024-11-30 21:09:17 +0000 UTCThank you both for explaining - it can be a bit confusing since they use the term to describe the human / titan hybrids too so kinda throws you off a little haha!
Sophie Anders
2024-11-30 21:07:15 +0000 UTCYeah, simply put, aberrant titans are any titan that's acting outside the common titan behaviour, making them unpredictable and dangerous.
Hezer
2024-11-30 21:05:05 +0000 UTCAnd anyway, living and training with certain group for three years is bound to create friendships and family-like bonds between each member regardless. For me it would be obvious, that Eren would feel deeply betrayed.
Hezer
2024-11-30 20:58:51 +0000 UTCYeah - I just chalked it up to maybe feeling betrayed like "why would she do this to us after we graduated with her?" kinda thing haha!

2024-11-30 18:00:31 +0000 UTCOne thing I have heard repeatedly is that the anime cut a lot of time from the training arc that was in the manga which establishes a deeper connection between Eren and Annie. I remember on first watch wondering why Eren is acting so emotional about Annie's identity being revealed as I assumed surely he went into this capture plan well aware she was the female titan, but cut content of the two of them would better explain his denial.

2024-11-30 17:41:17 +0000 UTCEvery time I watch this series I catch something new. When the squad leader comes down the hallway to hand out the new orders and everyone is saluting he says "don't bother" and then Hitch and Annie drop their hands from their hearts. Marlo doesn't. I love these little character moments they didn't need to add because they could easily be missed but animated anyway.

2024-11-30 17:15:09 +0000 UTCOne thing I'd like to point out is that what they call "Aberrant" titans is not in fact people who turn in to titans, but rather the regular titans which act in an irrregular manner, being unpredictable (since mostly they are kinda like dumb zombies, really obvious to read, but not aberrants). It's a collective term to describe any regular titan who is really different in some way regarding it's behaviour, movement, reactions, triggers, motives, etc. Also Armin's phrase about the term "good person" in his dialogue with Annie really stuck in my head and resonated with me deeply back when I was a young teenager watching the show for the first time. What he says seems like a simple truth, something basic, almost obvious even, but it's aslo the thing that people (myself included) often tend to forget in their reasoning. It's just a really wise concept to think about, and actually this show has these kinds of teachings throughout the whole thing now and then, aside from the "main" story and it's conflict. I find it incredibly enjoyable.
