Oh no I did miss that about the spell!! But yes just ties into the fact that she is already doing what she can to make those around her happy but hasn't come to the realisation that she's already achieved what she actively set out to do!

It is mentioned in episode 2 that Frieren collected a spell to make sour grapes. In episode 3 Eisen mentions in a flashback that he loves sour grapes, and in episode 4 you can see him enjoying them with Frieren. (Fern hated the sour grapes in both occasions, lol) The show is very beautiful and really makes you appreciate all the little moments that we take for granted. It is also very beautiful that both Frieren and Fern just "somewhat like magic". Frieren is always looking around for new silly spells, not for the magic per se, but for the joy that they bring to the people around her, just like Fern chose magic because of the joy that it used to bring to Heiter. This show always makes me feel very melancholic, but it has been amazing getting to relive it through your reaction. Can't wait for you to delve further into the story now that you have finally finished the prologue!
