in universe its kindof understandable to be scared of eren even if you don't think he's doing anything wrong, just to be on the safe side just the risk of this power being in the hands of an impulsive child or someone who MIGHT potentially loose control might be kinda scary if you're standing next to it I would probably not want to stand next to a fully armed nad loaded tank being driven by an untrained 10 year old either even if I think the 10 year old in question is a good kid I would feel a bit scared standing next to that I would probably tell them to get out of the tank but we don't know how erens power works, it's not that easy to control or take away

we don't really know how the training classes are structured but if they take on a new class yearly that spends some 4 years or so training and there's attacks every 5 years or so that kill off a lot of new graduates they're still getting more soldiers, just at a slightly irregualr rate and eren happens to fall into the worst timing I think there is some age variance among the recruits but that is just vague specualtion based on anime character design vibes but it seems like while there's a bunch of recruits just old enough to join the military in every new class, there's also a few middle aged people who decide to change jobs and sign up as new recruits

love the long analysis there's so much to read into and plenty people who just kind awatch the show and nothing else there's also a repeated theme of not letting people die in vain just before eren puts down the boulder even those who were questioning the whole operation HAVE to give EVERYTHING because if they fail, seconds before success then everyone who died up to that point would have died pointlessly and they cannot allow that to be the case when we first see levi the dying soldier seems relieved to learn that at least his death was worth something when eren does his little speach in episode 4 he argues they cannot abandon the tactics so many people died to develop and even in episode 1 when they return the arm, the death of a soldier is sad but what really makes the commander break down is admitting that his death was pointless

lost girls 3 is amazing but has some subtle spoilers and becomes way more meaningful with season 4, its best to watch at the very very end

That's awesome! I wish I'd caught your stream earlier. Would've loved to watch that. :)

Also imagine a soulslike AoT game.

A fantastic analysis. Marco was such a good boy and will never be forgotten. ; ;

I shall keep this in mind in relation to the OVAs as I wasn't sure when exactly would be best to watch them!

DARK SOULS LET'S GO!! I need to go back to Challenge Running Elden Ring again but just a tad burned out after 2 and a half years. Ended up doing Horror Games instead!

Awesome analysis. You're absolutely correct with Jean, it's a beautiful writing and essential for his character growth. Also I'd say that Eren has had a huge impact with Jean. At least in Jean's mind they're rivals and he doesn't like Eren, but instead of simply dismissing his opinions, Jean grudgingly accepts that Eren's determination to fight against the titans is the correct one. Then through Marco he realized his own skills/ability to influence, encourage and motivate other people, and has started to become a leader in order to save lives, giving up his desire for comfort and security within the walls. I don't know if you know about the OVA (original video animation) episodes, or OAD (original anime DVD) episodes as they're called in some places. They're extra episodes released outside the broadcast schedule, on DVDs/Blurays or other media. Most often OVAs are side stories, that didn't fit into or were cut out from the main storyline. There's also few including Jean, that I think are giving some more insight into his personality. Here's my opinion about at which point the specific OVAs should be watched for the least amount of spoilers, and for the best impact. OVA1: Ilse's Notebook. Watch between Season 1 and 2. The best place would probably be after the first episode of season 2, but it doesn't matter that much. OVA2: A Sudden Visitor. Watch between Season 1 and 2. OVA3: Distress. Watch between Season 1 and 2. OVA4&5: No Regrets. Watch between Seasons 2 and 3. These were released after season 1, but they fit much better just before season 3. OVA6&7: Lost Girls 1 & 2. These two don't have any real spoilers after Season 2, but I think for the best impact, it would be good to watch them somewhere around the middle of Season 4. At that point you will have gained some insight, that makes these episodes much more interesting. OVA8: Lost Girls 3. This is the most difficult one, as I personally regret seeing it before Season 4 (it was released before that season). So I would recommend watching it after Season 4, before or after the final movies. For the other members, feel free to comment if you agree or disagree with these recommendations. Just keep it spoiler free. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Another wonderful one! Thanks so much! I know you said these won't come after every episode, but I have a sneaking suspicion that they'll become more common as the series goes on. I'm so happy about your opinion about Jean now. That's wonderful. The quote you gave about him about courage is perfect for him for sure, but, really, Armin just embodies the idea. They're both amazing characters, absolutely. Also, heck yes, Dark Souls! It's my favourite game ever with zero competition.
