Uncut Attack on Titan 1 x 16
Added 2024-11-07 15:11:25 +0000 UTCTHANK YOU KRUL FOR LETTING ME KNOW THE DIALOGUE WAS SLIGHTLY BEHIND!
Should all be fixed now! Phew! We're officially 2 weeks ahead of YouTube with AOT. Hoping to be ahead with Death Note when I film more tomorrow. Aiming to get more Frieren up on Patreon on Monday too!
Thank you everyone for supporting my content and being so patient with me in this process. The support has been out of this world and has really taken a weight off of my shoulders in terms of worrying about finances. I am so utterly grateful!

I'm not sure its really that much of a swing he's now picking the same branch as eren but he's still doing it for somewhat different reasons or at least for reasons different fro mteh ones he initially saw from eren and mocked

2024-11-18 04:22:23 +0000 UTCI don't think you have to always fix it to the same episode, there's so much goign on in this show its perfectly understandable if you notice something later and comment on something that happened a few episodes ago in a later episode

2024-11-18 04:20:44 +0000 UTC6:10 love how she probably means which branch he's joining and instead he responds to her thoughts but answers it indirectly anyways

2024-11-18 04:18:36 +0000 UTCIt's why I really want to redo my outro on 16 as I don't feel I did the episode justice in looking at Jean's development as a character! So I'll be refilming that this week as he absolutely deserves it!! He really did grow on me. I think it's so easy in the earlier episodes to see him as just a coward when you've witnessed what Eren has gone through and his resilience. But the more you see of Jean the more you realise that he is courageous in his own way. He's just more logical in his thought process rather than emotional!

2024-11-12 12:40:28 +0000 UTCHaha, I joined the Patreon at a perfect point to have to wait to start one of my favorite plot arcs! (To be fair, a favorite among many favorites, that's how AOT is tho). I feel like Jean's "I'm really counting on you!" is so meaningful. He has been in a jealous rivalry the whole season with Eren (roughly 3 years and change in the shows timeline), he has openly mocked Eren on countless occasions for being "suicidal" for wanting to join the Survey corps, and yet here he is, in the survey corp and expressing faith/reliance on Eren. It's a pretty huge swing.

2024-11-12 06:38:04 +0000 UTCAh, yeah, that's a good point! She does seem to have a soft spot for them underneath her cold exterior. I did very much like the part where Armin says she's actually pretty nice, and Annie looks shocked, turns to him, and goes, "Huh? I am? What the heck?" :D

2024-11-10 04:05:33 +0000 UTCNelson Mandela said something similar "I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear." Which absolutely applies to Jean in every sense of the word. Also Sasha and Connie too. You are right.

2024-11-08 20:29:56 +0000 UTCGotta appreciate Marco and the way he was with everyone. When Jean is looking at the funeral pyre for the disposed bodies, he mentions not being able to tell which bones are Marcos anymore. Implying he watched them load Marcos's body onto the pire and kept watching until it was indistinguishable. It was such a small, quick scene, but that hit me like a ton of bricks. Losing someone you care about without closure is a different type of grief, in my opinion, because it takes so much longer to set in. I wasn't a big fan of Jean up to this point (mainly bc I am Team Eren/Mikasa/Armin forever), but this is when I really started to appreciate him, and from this point on, he was in my Top 5 list. Sasha and Connie were also courageous because they were clearly riddled with fear but still chose not to move from their spots. It's easy to face something when you think you have a decent chance at success, but facing the daunting challenge of fighting titans when so many others have died for the exact cause is commendable. "Bravery isn't the absence of fear but the action you take in the presence of fear." - Some famous philosopher said this, but I dont remember who lol I can't wait to see your reaction to the OVA!

2024-11-08 20:22:43 +0000 UTCI think more just with her closeness to the rest of the team that I would have thought she would have followed alongside them out of a sense of loyalty but I guess her aloof personality somewhat separates her.

2024-11-08 10:47:04 +0000 UTCGreat episode! Great thoughts about everything. One thing, though, about Annie. You were surprised she didn't join the survey corps. But remember how she was always talking about how she didn't want to "play soldier" in this world and was generally distrustful of the whole system. She did always seem aloof and like she didn't really care about anything. She seemed super bored all the time, so it wasn't really surprising to me that she wasn't passionate about joining the group that wants to give their everything to save humanity.

2024-11-08 04:41:35 +0000 UTCI always thought of Jean as the most related character. Whenever I watch anime, I always try to put myself in characters shoes, and I feel like Jean represents the normal person, but also that he's very brave and virtuous. What I really enjoy from Jean is that above all else, he's very honest; he openly admits his fears, uncertainties, and his own faults. Despite little conflicts and disagreements here and there, he's very loyal to his friends and comrades.

2024-11-08 04:05:43 +0000 UTCWhat I really really love about Jeans character at this point in the show is that we see a great example of what Marco has been saying about him. He is not afraid to say brash things that are uncomfortable but necessary. That is why we have the impression that he is a bit of a jerk at the start of the show but if you really go back and re-watch it you will see that the things he was saying were actually realistic and very in character, he was speaking the hidden thoughts of the majority and while it comes off as jerkish and brash to the viewer its actually very realistic and rational and way more in common with the average person compared to someone like Eren. It is just bias from the viewer to dislike him because we know Eren better. I love the authors use of psychology in his story telling because it really diverts the viewers attention and gives us a big surprise, also it inspires thought. I love this show. (BTW, I have watched it at least over 10 times hahaha.)

2024-11-07 23:49:34 +0000 UTCI think it might just be a tad out of sync - I must have knocked the footage off a little. I'm currently re-uploading the amended to Google Drive so should hopefully get that link switched out shortly! Thank you so much for supporting my content. It means the world!

2024-11-07 22:09:44 +0000 UTCI think the show is like 1 or 2 seconds behind your reaction at certain points. Like at 17:57 where you reacted to Mikasa's line before she said it
Dense
2024-11-07 22:07:38 +0000 UTCMore and more I think he has to be a jerk at first, and aggressively so, in order for his growth now to hit the way it should. All that really happened was that he used to be ignorant/selfish/egotistical, and then when he got a big dose of reality he stepped up to meet it. Without that bad first impression his stepping up wouldn’t be so powerful.

2024-11-07 17:51:12 +0000 UTC1000% - they need someone like Jean whose rational and logically willing to think. He's also not scared to speak up when he disagrees which Armin could really learn from him. Mikasa is similar but when it comes to Eren she tends to lead with her heart and forgo everything else even her own safety. Jean really grew on me!

2024-11-07 16:23:58 +0000 UTCI really like that Marco’s analysis of Jean is what Jean has decided to embrace, that he’s a good leader and a good soldier BECAUSE he’s weak and afraid and constantly looks for the angles. While he rejected it at first, he’s climbed on board with it now, and is being very open about his reasoning and thoughts, which means that every single person knows exactly what Jean’s priorities are and where they stand with him. He’s not pretending he’s not scared or screaming defiance at the universe (Eren), he’s just decided where he’s going to stand and will not be moved. He’s never going to give lethal orders without a damn good reason or if there’s any better option. By the same token, he’s never going to follow an order if it’s nothing but suicide, so it signals that if Jean trusts what’s coming from above, then anyone can. It’s so important, especially in a situation like this one, to be able to trust your colleagues and superiors that way, and I’m glad the group has someone like that - with ideals, but not particularly idealistic.
