Man I can't wait to episodes 6, 7 and 8, especially 8, which I consider so beautiful and the most insightful in all Trigun. Also, regarding what you said, "In this reboot, Knives' goal is to take back the plants, while in the OG, he only sought to make Vash suffer." I'd like to point out that Trigun Stampede tells the story with a different chronology (and also some different scenes). Don't worry, no spoilers: in the OG anime, we meet a Knives who, in the present timeline, is regenerating inside a bulb and wanting Vash to suffer, and we learn through a flashback that this is because Vash shot him with his gun arm like 20 years ago, also destroying July city (we learn this thanks to the orphaned little girl in July who became the pretty lady and plant engineer seeking revenge on Vash). On the other hand, in Trigun Stampede, we meet a Knives who is in perfect condition and harmless to Vash, and whose only goal is to take the plants with him. And in episode 3 we hear Vash say "I'm going to July city, where I'll find Knives" ๐

We know already since one plant is out how it effected even the drinking water, now its gone and the city infrastructure was destroyed. It IS a death sentence. My one thing that would've made me love it rather than like it is having the gusto to have Knives take out Rosa's child directly if they were going to be killed anyways. The two women who were defenders, sure, were real people and a part of the town, but it felt a bit "free" to have Knives kill them and then Rosa gets away in that moment. Taking out the kid would really show Knives direct apathy for humans, and he couldve just tossed them off the side of the wall if the kid ran in to try and protect her, not do anything too gross.
