(Things Took a Turn...) ATLA LA EP1 Reaction & Discussion UNCUT!

ATLA LA THOUGHTS SO FAR:

The series started strong with its first episode but lost its footing as the series went on. It felt fast and slow at the same time. Some of the added stuff works, but some of the changes were mind boggling and the relationship between the gang didn't feel as strong as I hoped it would be.
There are moments when characters achieve and learn things that as a fan of the original series I know are important for their character, but in the live action these moments fall flat and it feels like we weren't shown the things that make those moments powerful and emotional.
The acting/writing also feels all over the place with some of it being great and some of it taking me COMPLETELY out! That's kind of what this series has been so far, a constant in and out. Moments that were amazing, immediately followed by something super questionable. I definitely want to finish the series to have a more complete experience of the first season as a whole, but just wanted to post an update since we were so hyped after the first episode.
