I'm loving the fact that in Wano you can start to pick out sequences with each animator's unique style: the super sketchy and loose style with Kid and Luffy launching toward Kaido with Red Roc is Akihiro Ota; the extra fluid face and talking animation is by Vincent Chansard; the unique shading and lighting during Big Mom's Maser Cannon is by Henry Thurleau. Up until Wano, probably the most recognizable animator was Naotoshi Shida (who still does sequences nowadays too, you'll see one in episode 1044), a long-time Toei veteran whose unique style is readily appreciable at the end of the Katakuri fight.

2023-03-05 02:52:31 +0000 UTCNice reaction! Of course directors are really talented, but it often goes unoticed that ishitani's episodes or any others can shine only with the animation crew. If the talented crew wasn't as committed, those episodes would often be forgettable ones. It is because of the animators that the director's vision can shine throughout. The key animator who did the kid scene and the luffy's red roc is a veteran in one piece, his name is Akihiro Ota!
