My friend's story: My boyfriend is interested in developing photographic films (yes, in 2020 this is still interesting to some people). Sometimes he prints custom photos himself at home, he has all the equipment, and our bathroom becomes a laboratory. Last summer he said that he had received an order to print a photo and would need my help. This surprised me a little, because he usually managed it on his own, but of course I agreed. That day, we were first at the dacha with my relatives, we arrived a little tired, but he was full of intentions to do everything today. He prepared everything necessary and called me. The process began, and then we smelled something burning. It turned out that the time relay (there is such a device) is acting up due to age and a few minutes after turning it on it just starts to stink. I panicked that we were on fire, but he reassured me that everything was ok and apologized for a long time. This also alarmed me a little, well, the smell and smell, the main thing is that it was not a fire. We started printing the first photos, my role was to observe them in a cuvette with reagents and take them out when the image was sufficiently fixed. The first few photos were ready, I looked at them - well, just some trees and a road, nothing expressive, I said that the photos were kind of creepy. And then another sheet appears in my ditch, the image gradually emerges before my eyes, and I see in the photo my boyfriend holding a sign in his hands that says “Marry me.” Here you need to understand that during the photo printing process, only a special red lantern was burning in our bathroom and it was dark. I don’t know what to say, I turn around, vaguely see that he is standing on one knee and has a box with a ring in his hands. I start to cry, and he says: “I don’t see your face and I don’t understand your reaction.” Then I laugh, and so does he, but we can't go out into the light because we can't ruin the photos. This, of course, did not bother us, I agreed, the ring was put on, and I looked at it in the light only after ten minutes.
