I do like a good story, but that doesn't mean that story-heavy games all have to be the same boy-meets-girl slow burn. A classic technique that I've seen games use - and successfully, in my opinion - is to start in medias res (or perhaps more accurately; in medio concubitu). It can be a dream or premonition, a one-night stand that turns into something more, or even the story being told in a non-linear order.

Hope you liked it, Annie :) It's still quite early (the core story of the first Act is done, and the sandbox that will go with it is ~50% complete). It'll get an official 'demo' release to the usual places, and then when Act II is complete I hope to enter Early Access.
Like Love of Magic this one is planned as a Trilogy, with each book around 100 days long (5 acts). So we're at Day 17 / ~300 :)
