We'll just have to see how much freedom I actually have.

Annie

I hope your move goes smoothly! As to the journalism aspects, I would see how much editorial review they want over your work, but assuming they're largely willing to let you write your thoughts, I think it's a great step forward. If you decide to go that route, I'd be very supportive and wish you the best.

i think it's really fascinating stuff. like i said, if you want, i can lend you an ebook copy

Eric Schmitt

Thanks!

Annie

I think that a lot of people's concerns are valid even if how they voice those concerns is less than optimal.

Annie

Thanks!

Annie

Sounds like an interesting read. Thanks for the recommendation!

Annie

I figure that AI will eventually replace review videos as well, but at least the content I cover is currently blocked by most AI software.

Annie

Wow, this sounds like a grand and scary adventure! I hope more of the world gets to hear more fact based sexual, er, facts and the sex positive ethos... and that you don't end up making an exposé on the trials of starting in journalism, especially in this age when companies are increasingly turning to AI to pad their pages. Also, is that a tetris city builder? What an oddball idea... will try the demo!

Robert

Video game journalism in general is fine. For multiple reasons. First of all game reviews are one person's view of a game most of the time. A lot of publications state so. It's just that a lot of gamers tend to think that publications carry any more weight than their (the gamers) own opinion, which they simply don't. Just like you can agree with your friends on which games you think are good, you can disagree with the reviewers. They're only human, just like us. Second of all game journalism is much more than game reviews. There's reports, in-depth investigations, interviews with interesting or influential people in the industry about anything & everything they might care about. That part of "game journalism" gets much less hate, and rightly so; stories such as the ones about mismanagement in Ubisoft, the rampant misogyny at Activision, the insane amount of crunch in many studios such as Naughty Dog played huge parts in necessary changes in this industry. If they approach you to write an article about the adult games industry in general, then by all means please take them up on it & congratulations. I firmly believe that spreading information is good, that having experts (you do count as one) talk about stuff they know about is always valuable.

hey, Annie. kind of random and off topic but i wanted to say that i've recently read a book called Screwed: How Women Are Set Up to Fail at Sex by Lili Boisvert. it's about how society as a whole nurtures and encourages male desire but suppresses and discourages female desire. the reason i bring this up is because i definitely think that is something that applies to adult gaming in general and i think it would make for a fascinating discussion. i can lend anyone an ebook copy if they're interested.

Do it. At this point, I trust your ethics enough to expect you'll ditch the position before compromising them, so until that point, take advantage of whatever exposure they can give you.

KL

Your in-depth analysis of credit card companies clearly shows journalist work, you might want to leverage "commentator" for major publications??? Maybe that will dodge the wackos??? Well, I'd like to think it would, but they're wackos, so there's no chance of them not freaking out.

Dustin_00

That's the goal. Hopefully this new plan will help get us there quicker!

Annie

Sounds incredible! Enjoy the travel and the shows! I would love to hear how the adult games industry is growing and becoming more mainstream around the world. I look forward to the day I can talk about a game like Love Sucks as easily as I might talk about a game like Balatro.
