You have a point. Then again, while men are slightly more likely than women to be gay, women are about two times more likely to be bisexual (according to UK census from 2022). In that way it does make some sense that we're seeing attractive women in most games, while attractive men are mostly found in yaoi. I think women may also have a greater desire to look attractive (as a protagonist) than men, but I don't have evidence to back that up.

Yeah, that's true. "Female protagonist games where ogling the main character isn't the focus of the erotic content" would be a hard thing to search for. Especially since it's a somewhat subjective distinction. A more actionable category might just be "non-corruption female protagonist games." Maybe placed right after the corruption category to make it clear it isn't some sort of snub against that flavor.

Oh thanks for the detailed response.

So when we look at the differences between what men generally like and what women generally like, there is (what I have been tentatively calling) a difference of intensity. For example: women are statistically more likely to have a rape fantasy, however the nature and "intensity" of those fantasies tend to be less "extreme" than those held by men. Similarly when we look at sexual content made by women for women (which is currently mostly erotica) it tends to be less explicit. The outcome of this is that a lot of "female friendly" adult content does not get an adult rating. Now the good news for people looking for more explicit "female friendly" adult content is that women seem to be catching up to men with regards to "more explict" content in their sexual consumption. Given that I expect that we will see more games reflecting this change in the future.

okay, lots of stuff to say here. first off. please keep doing data driven lists. I love them. second, your dad is awesome. I love beauty and the beast, and he gave me a new perspective on it. third, I do want a female protag game that isn't corruption focused, but this come's with a new question, where are yuri games in this discussion? do women play these games too, or are they even aimed at women? they're never talked about here. have they totally faded into obscurity? (also commented on Youtube, just in case.)

This sounds really, really complicated to figure out.

I think even more fundamental than female protagonist games usually being about corruption is that they're almost always designed for the protagonist to be attractive to the player. While most (non-yaoi) male protagonist games will never present the main character as object of lust for the player. You aren't here to look at him. You're here to BE him, and do things with the female characters through him. When I think of female protagonists adult games for women, I imagine a gender flip of how male protagonist games typically work. Where the player is intended to identify with the woman they're playing as, and be attracted to the character(s) she's involved with. I don't know how many games like that actually exist though.
