Games on GOG that were Banned by Steam

Edit: Kagura Games reached out to me to let me know, "We aren't the publisher for Duel Princess or Secret Kiss is Sweet and Tender." So while both games are available on the Kagura site, I seem to have misunderstood their relationship with those games and Steam. My bad.

JAST has some interesting games that gog doesn’t have. I’ve ventured out a little, although I have no idea what all the options are. I find myself frustrated with the lack of good reviews and communities outside steam. The description of the games are also a bit crap. I read them and I’m still not sure what to expect from the games.

I’m playing the sample edition of the second game on steam to decide if I want to purchase the game. The sample is heavily censored and that’s not my thing. The game isn’t bad. There’s a rape scene with crazy mushroom people, so far, but I’ve seen worse in anime with tentacle porn. The scenes are still and really spaced out so… I get why some might object, but I feel like there are so many other more important things to worry about. Unless tentacle porn has been outlawed, then there’s at least be some consistency.

Australia has joined Germany in limiting your access to fun. Sorry!

I would also appreciate definitions of the keywords. Something you can link to and edit. A website would be best, but it could also be something as simple as an image post on one of the free image sharing sites.

So i just joined to say that Beat Angel Escalayer R does not seem to be on GOG anymore, your link just goes to the full list of PC games. Even if you google the game the first result is a GOG link that takes you to the same PC game list and searching comes up with nothing. Unless it is legally banned in Australia? EDIT: I just checked and only like 6 of the links work for me, i dont have a vpn currently so i cant check other locations, but maybe its a geolock thing?

Hope you have fun!

Thank you for this excellent list! Time to give some of my hard-earned money to GOG instead of Steam...

I was also thinking that the genre descriptions could be pinned to Patreon, particularly if videos pose so much of an issue. Then you could post a vague video that skirts the lines, and more detailed info on the pinned Patreon post. I don’t know how all of it works, but those are my potentially ill-informed thoughts.

Jason P

Can you also or instead post that information on your Patreon page as additional information with your videos? You have links, so if additional information of the genre for context were posted with the links, that would help.

While Steam will no give specific reasons for banning a game as a matter of policy, if you look at what is banned certain flavors tend to emerge. These flavors are also prohibited by YouTube so it makes it very difficult to talk about them in the video. These games are all originally Japanese releases and Japan has a different set of standards than we see in America regarding sex, sexuality, and violence. So yes: I was intentionally vague as it was the only way I could even touch on this subject. No I don't think purely fictional content in any form should be banned, but I also would like to remain on YouTube and Patreon so that I can continue to spread that message. I apologize that my level of self censoring impacted the quality of this video. Your suggestion for keywords sounds great! I'm not sure how I could implement that. Maybe using YouTube shorts?

Annie

So, games are banned. Okay. I didn’t get a good sense of their flavors or why they were band(or may have been banned). Most of the games appear to just be games? Do they have sex in them? If not, why are they relevant to me? If so, what kinds? Are they banned due to content? Age portrayal? Because? Knowing more about the content or character portrayal could help me come to my own conclusions. Looking at reviews of the games on gog, or the descriptions, hasn’t helped much either. Specifically, I’m curious if I might be interested in any of the games, but I can’t answer that unless I were to have more info. A side note: corruption… slice of life… I have assumptions about what they mean but I’ve seen them used in ways I wouldn’t, so having those terms (and others) defined as a pinned post would be nice too.

Jason P

I'm still so embarrassed.

Annie

Even if it is to be corrected, it's pretty cool to be noticed by Kagura Games.
