Talk less Smile more Don’t let them know what you’re against or what you’re for

Cool shots of Senso-ji. I have to ask what kind of fortune you got? Personally, I try to follow the wise advice of Linus Van Pelt who in my childhood told everyone "There are three things I have never to discuss in public: Religion, Politics, and The Great Pumpkin". Especially these days when it seems the art of civil discussion has all but died out. Can't even have "water cooler" discussions about current events at work without someone getting offended and quitting because you've said the wrong thing. There's a blog post by Paul Graham that I read many years ago about social taboos and how they tend to arise. About moral fashion trends and how saying the wrong things in front of the wrong people can get you fired, ostracized, even killed. Something Graham wrote has stayed with me since I read it: "When Milton was going to visit Italy in the 1630s, Sir Henry Wootton, who had been ambassador to Venice, told him his motto should be "i pensieri stretti & il viso sciolto." Closed thoughts and an open face. Smile at everyone, and don't tell them what you're thinking. This was wise advice. Milton was an argumentative fellow, and the Inquisition was a bit restive at that time. But I think the difference between Milton's situation and ours is only a matter of degree. Every era has its heresies, and if you don't get imprisoned for them you will at least get in enough trouble that it becomes a complete distraction." --http://paulgraham.com/say.html

looking forward to it, but dont feel pressured.

Thanks. I'm just trying to stay on message as much as I can. Given the feedback from you all it looks like I'm gonna say something on YouTube. Maybe as part of the birthday video.

As someone who is relatively new to this patreon, I want to thank you for your incredible and interesting work on the genre. I love the reviews and think the content you produce is influencing your viewers in a good way. In this time of the modern internet (comming from someone hearing the log in sound of my modem in my dreams sometimes), talking about politics or not (or talking about "hot content" like the upcoming Harry Potter game) seems to be doomed to produce outlash. It puzzels me to see how the internet as a social place has evolved into this state, where you as an creator have to be so aware of what you say, cause there are myriads of groups left and right you could insult....without knowing. I encourage you to do as you stated. Haters gonna hate, lovers gonna love. Have a nice time.

I want people to share their opinions and I don't mind people pushing from any ideological position. My goal is to provide a safe and healthy place for as many people as I can regardless of their personal beliefs. I mean, of course, I'm going to have to address actual behaviors if something happens, but thought is not a crime (yet).

Annie

Oh wow. So I understand how it is a common rhetorical tool to call people Nazis or Communists and I get why people do that. However my position is that even if we were living in a modern Nazi Germany (which for a myriad of reasons I don't think we are, but I get your point), the people who joined and made up the SA and the Nazi party are EXACTLY the people who most need to hear the message of safe and healthy sexual outlets. The greatest danger of sexual suppression is that it warps and twists people until they sometimes become monstrous in their behavior. Does the SA ever come into existence and ascendance if the Weimar Republic was more tolerant of the safe and healthy exploration of sexuality? While I can't answer that for certain, I am absolutely sure that events like "The Night of Long Knives" would never have happened. The most radical elements of both the left and the right are probably the ones who would best be served by having safe and healthy sexual outlets through gaming. Especially if they were offered those outlets in their formative years. I'm not willing to give up on them and I am certain that we can offer better outcomes to future generations.

Politics happens when you get more than two people in a room discussing something. It’s the art of working things out without resorting to sharp sticks and is undervalued, mostly because we are witnessing a lot of very bad politics.

First, I just need to say, (content aside) your voice is the best voice in the multiverse. I just want to gobble it up. *composes himself* As far as the politics... I would not have joined your Patreon if you didn't have a Progressive vibe. You're literally one of two subs I have. The other is YouTube Premium. It was so important to me you were bringing awareness to what's right and what's wrong (ethically) about the content you review. If you were ignoring the "politics" (a.k.a. "morality"), I would've thanked you for your message about sex positive gaming and moved on. What's beautiful about your content is, you're not JUST spreading awareness for sex-positive gaming, you're ALSO a voice for the unheard. I've already started having discussions with and sort of spreading your mission amongst my friends, family, and co-workers. These are evolved conversations I never would have had without your content. I am literally a happier, healthier person thanks to your content. Regardless, I never would've signed-up or followed you, and I certainly wouldn't have mentioned you to others, if I could've smelled Conservative on you. I would love to sit and have a whole ass conversation with you on this but here it is in a nutshell. If you were in Nazi Germany, would you play both sides? And, why don't you know you're in Nazi Germany?

I'd like to nominate Seeds of Chaos for inclusion on your goblin list, if you're taking suggestions - they added a bunch of new content last year that I really enjoyed a lot. As for the politics thing, it's my personal thought that *everything* is politics in a way. Some things are obviously more explicitly political than others - "I do or don't like the current state of the Democratic Party," for instance - but ultimately lawmakers have some say and impact in almost every part of our society. As a result, who we vote for, and why, and how we view the world from a political perspective ends up impacting everything else. That's an idealistic statement, I realize, and in practice, I temper it with the fact that we don't live in an ideal world, but it felt like I should say that before my actual suggestion on how to handle it, which is... ...that I think you could probably just upload a video where you say what you said in this video from 1:15 to 2:30ish. I think it's a very clear, fair stance to take on the channel, especially if stated clearly. Perhaps you could frame the video primarily as a sort of channel trailer - something you could pin to the homepage for newcomers, while also being something those of us who are already around could benefit to hear. And if that stance is too apolitical for given viewers, or if it's too far to the left/right for other viewers, at the end of the day, you can never please everyone. I think it's better to take a stance and stand by it than to try to cater to everyone. You can lead a horse to NTR, but you can't make it talk about NTR respectfully (or something like that). That's my take on it anyway. I think I run the risk of being one of those voices pushing from the left, so if I am, sorry about that - feel free to let me know in response to any comments I make, because it's definitely not something I want to do. If/when I disagree - which really isn't often honestly - I try to be as civil as I can about it. Ultimately I also want people to find and enjoy these games, and explore their sexuality in the process. Doing that's been an essential part of my growth in a lot of areas of my life, and I wouldn't be who I am without it. Keep on doing what you're doing, and I think things will keep turning out well!
