Day 4 in Malaysia! Up before the sun to pack my stuff—because guess what, I’m flying to Langkawi this morning! Since I’ll only be there for a day, I’m just bringing the bare essentials. Can’t go overboard, especially with another flight to Bangkok waiting the day after tomorrow. Adventure mode: ON!

July 30, early in the morning around 7 AM, my friend and I headed to the airport in Kuala Lumpur for our 9:25 flight. In KL, people are already out and about for work as early as 6 AM—even though it’s still dark! By 7 or 8, the traffic really kicks in. But the good thing is, it’s the kind of traffic that keeps moving, not the standstill kind.

Around 8:25, we arrived at the airport, all set to check in and get ready for boarding.

So my friend parked his car at the airport, which is super convenient—no need to take public transport when we get back tomorrow. As for me, I’m only bringing this little goodie bag to Langkawi. I left my suitcase in his car so I won’t have to deal with the hassle.

We flew with Malaysia Airlines and will be coming back tomorrow with AirAsia. The round-trip tickets (cabin only, no checked baggage) cost around RM500–RM600, which is about (Rp1.900.000-Rp2.300.000) (118.75 – 143.75 USD)
And of course, let’s not forget the classic airport + early morning flight combo: the sudden urge to hit the toilet!
After a short wait, we finally boarded the plane. It was actually my first time flying with Malaysia Airlines—and wow, the cabin was super clean and tidy! Seriously impressive. They even gave us some snacks and water. The flight to Langkawi only takes about 45–50 minutes, so pretty quick!

I took a quick nap and—boom—we’d already landed! The airport here is pretty small, but it still serves international flights. And wow, it’s hot here—definitely hotter than KL. Makes sense though, since we’re so close to the beach.

The toilets here are super clean too—fresh, cool, and even smell nice!

Alright, time to head out of the airport. So here, my friend rented a car for a day until tomorrow—makes it so much easier to get around. The price was RM70 (Rp270.000) (16.88 USD) for a Nissan.

fter picking up the car, our first stop was the gas station. Fuel here is super cheap—only RM2 per liter (around IDR 8,000) (0.50 USD) . We filled up RM20 worth (about IDR 78,000) (4.88 USD). And yep, this price applies all over Malaysia, including KL!

After filling up the tank, we were starving—so off we went to one of the local eateries. According to my friend, this place is the best! No wonder—he’s been to Langkawi over a dozen times already. The last time was back in 2023, and what he misses most is definitely the food here. And I get it—so delicious!
We went to Nasi Campur Kak Yan. The place is super spacious, and the food selection is insane—chicken, fish, and so many other dishes with different sauces and flavors. Tons of sambal, fresh veggies, fruits—you name it. You’ve just got to see it for yourself!

Here it’s buffet-style—so just grab whatever you like first, then head to the cashier to pay!

Everything was sooo good, seriously! And don’t even get me started on the spicy tempeh—absolute heaven!
The total for both of us was only RM27 (about IDR 107,000) (6.69 USD)—which is super cheap compared to KL, where even a small portion can cost a lot more!
After a satisfying meal, we headed over to the Eagle Square since it wasn’t time to check in at the hotel yet.
We were starting to feel a bit tired and hot, but still super happy—this place is so much fun!
Langkawi’s pretty small, so you could easily get familiar with all the roads in just a few days.

We got here around 12:40!
Turns out, the name “Langkawi” actually has a meaning!
“Lang” comes from helang, which means eagle, and “kawi” means dark red. So, Langkawi literally means “red eagle.” Pretty fitting for the giant eagle statue that’s the main icon at Dataran Lang!
Fun fact:
This eagle statue stands about 12 meters tall and faces the sea, as if ready to soar and welcome visitors. It’s also one of the most popular photo spots—especially during sunset!

The seawater around here is so clean and clear—it totally makes you want to just jump right in!
On the other side of the eagle statue, there are benches and little food stalls too, perfect if you want to take a break and grab some snacks.

We only spent about 15 minutes here—just enough for me to check out the statue. After that, we moved on to our next stop: nature!! 🌿
Where to next, you ask? Stay tuned to find out…
To be continued!
