A refreshing natural spring and waterfall spot! in West Bandung Regency

This time, I’m heading to one of the natural water attractions located near Bandung — specifically in West Bandung Regency. The place is called Sendang Geulis Kahuripan.

My team and I started our journey from downtown Bandung. According to Google Maps, it was about 44 kilometers away and would take around 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach. We got ready at dawn, around 4:30 AM, and left at 5:30. It was still a bit dark and chilly outside, but the sky looked clear, so we were hopeful it would be a fun and smooth trip.

From what I know, the place opens at 7 AM. That’s why I planned to arrive right when it opens — hoping to enjoy the peaceful vibe before the crowds start coming in.

Around 6:35 AM, we had already reached the mountainous area. The views along the way were absolutely stunning — from lush gardens to scenic mountain landscapes, all wrapped in a cool, refreshing breeze. The roads were still smooth and fully paved, so the drive was pretty comfortable.

While in Bandung, we followed Google Maps. Out of all the possible routes, it led us down this tiny road — probably meant as a shortcut. But guess what? This is what we ended up with! 😏😏

In the end, the road was so narrow and steep that our motorbike couldn’t carry two people. So, I decided to get off and walk for a bit.

But then... I got a little spooked — it felt like someone (or something!) was suddenly following me from behind. The motorbike was already far ahead, and the path was surrounded by tall trees and locals' gardens. Strangely, we didn’t see a single person around, even though our bike was making quite a bit of noise.

And guess what?
Turns out, it was just someone’s pet dog... Gave me quite a scare though! 😅

😌😌😌

Actually, there were two of them — but one had already gone ahead, almost as if it wanted to say, “This way, guys! The way out is over here!” Hahaha!

Sure enough, after walking for about 50 meters, we finally reached the main road again!

We finally found the main road again — but it turned out to be rocky and uneven. We still had about 4.5 kilometers to go on this kind of road before reaching the destination.

The scenery, though, was still amazing! We were surrounded by tea plantations and tall trees the whole way. I barely saw any locals or farmers along the route — just a few here and there.

We were still following Google Maps at this point, until we finally spotted a sign at an intersection — along with a small traditional hut (saung). That’s when we knew we were on the right track. This spot became our main landmark!

From this checkpoint, we still had around 1.4 kilometers to go!
And yep — the road was still just like before: rocky and uneven all the way!

Just keep following the route on Google Maps and eventually you’ll come across a small open parking area — not too far from the downhill road I showed earlier.
We arrived at around 7:40 AM! So yeah… the whole trip took us about 2 hours, with a little bit of getting lost along the way 😂🤣

Since it was still early, there were no other visitors yet — just a local’s car parked there.
But the good news is… it means coming here with family by car is totally doable too — as long as you take the proper main road, not the crazy shortcut we took earlier! 🙃

From the parking area, it’s just a short walk down — around 30 meters of stairs — and you’ll arrive at the main spot!

Even after walking down, we didn’t see anyone around.
Where do we buy the tickets? Where’s the staff?
We wandered around the area for a while… and still, no one in sight!

Turns out, there’s also a motorbike parking area down here — which is much closer to the natural pool.
There are actually quite a few paths around this area, and as you can see in the photo above, there’s even a motorbike trail.
The surroundings are mostly local gardens and small farms owned by nearby residents.

In my opinion, this place is already well-prepared to be a proper tourist spot.
There are plenty of saung (traditional huts), seating areas, and trash bins everywhere — so really, there’s no excuse to litter! 😉😉

Even though we hadn’t paid yet, we decided to just go down and check out the natural spring area!

BOOM!!
Just one level down, and we were already greeted by a refreshing natural soaking pool!
The water was crystal clear — seriously, you could even see fish swimming around in it!

Let’s go — time to jump in!!
We went straight for a soak and a swim.
The water was super refreshing… and freezing cold — but in the best way possible!

Let’s climb up the rocks and snap some photos! 📸✨

Let’s move over a bit — there’s a small waterfall area here!
But be careful, the rocks can be pretty slippery around this spot.

The water gushing out from this big pipe feels like getting a massage from a monster!
Hahaha — it’s strong, intense, but oddly relaxing!

On this level, there are seating areas as well as bathrooms where you can rinse off, change clothes, or use the toilet.

After we were done at the first level, we headed down to a lower area — let’s call it Level 2.
Around 8:30 AM, a man arrived and started cleaning the place. I tried to chat with him, and it turned out he was hearing-impaired. So we ended up communicating using simple sign language as best as we could.

He handed us the entrance ticket — and the price? Super affordable: only Rp10,000! ($0.63 USD)

Now this — this is the waterfall from the bottom angle.
Pretty cool, right?

And this is the main pool!
In my opinion, it’s pretty spacious.

There are two slides here — one big and one small.
Since the big one was still closed, I decided to try the smaller one instead!

That was wild!! It was way faster than I expected! 😆
Adults, be careful — the pool at the end is pretty shallow, so you might end up landing… well, butt-first on the floor! Hahaha!

Right next to the kids’ pool, there’s also a larger pool.
Unfortunately, the floor hadn’t been cleaned yet when we were there.
The depth is around 100 cm — so it’s not too deep, but enough for a nice soak or swim.

There’s also a bathroom right around this pool area, so you don’t need to go back up just to rinse off or use the toilet.

After chilling (literally!) in the cold water, it was time for some snacks!
There’s a small food stall near the pool, and it turns out it's run by a local lady who lives right around here.

Here, you can order hot drinks like coffee, tea, or wedang (a traditional Indonesian hot drink) — all for just Rp5,000, which is around $0.31 USD!
There are also some local snacks like gorengan (fried treats), and if you want, you can even ask the ibu (the local lady) to fry them fresh just for you.

We ordered pisang goreng (fried bananas) — only Rp10,000, which is about $0.63 USD per portion.
Look at that!! Served warm and crispy, perfectly paired with a hot cup of wedang — the ultimate comfort after a chilly dip!

The ibu at the food stall also serves fried noodles (mie goreng), nasi liwet, side dishes, and more if you’re feeling extra hungry!
There are also saung (small huts) and mats available for rent — perfect if you want to relax, eat, and enjoy the view comfortably.

After filling up on snacks, I sat for a while and had a lovely chat with the ibu at the food stall.
She’s been selling food here since 2014, but she’s actually lived in this village since the 1980s!

Interestingly, this place is also known as a spot for alternative healing. There’s a local healer people call “Abah”, but unfortunately we didn’t get to meet him — he was out working in the fields that morning.

As for the opening hours? Well, it’s pretty flexible. Some visitors come as early as 5 AM, and some even show up at night!
You could say it’s kind of a 24-hour natural getaway, haha!

Around 10:15 AM, we decided it was time to pack up and head home.
Of course, we didn’t forget to pay — haha!
And before leaving, we made sure to say goodbye to the ibu at the food stall — she was incredibly kind and humble.

And that’s a wrap for our trip to Sendang Geulis Kahuripan — a beautiful natural spring and waterfall spot!

Highly recommended if you’re looking for a cool, peaceful escape into nature.
My tip? Come early in the morning on a weekday — haha — it’s so quiet and serene, just like when we visited!

That’s all for now — thank you so much for reading, and see you in the next blog!
