You appreciate the depth of episodes like this one - the quiet, character-focused episodes that took so much hate for not having “enough” action. These were the episodes that stay with me. I couldn’t name an episode that was mostly celebrated for its body count, but I never forgot The Grove. As actors, imagine how much they welcomed these scripts!

2025-11-11 17:53:07 +0000 UTCAhh yes the grove. That ep that makes one think “I can’t believe they put this on tv” tbh haha. It’s intense but I’m glad they did it. Kids are a part of life and death. Lizzie Lizzie Lizzie. Okay. So statistically speaking anyone experiencing hallucinations or unreality or cognitive dissonance isn’t likely to be violent. That’s a trope in media. But more often than not someone who is struggling with mental illness is more of a danger to themselves than others. (S4 of true detective 😭😭) I think Lizzie is a clinical sociopath. There’s an interesting interview from someone who is a clinical sociopath and she talked about how she had to learn tools to fit in cuz she wanted to fit in cuz it made life easier. She didn’t care that she hurt people but she cared there were consequences and wanted to be accepted into society. Lizzie is living in a world of violence and death. All around. Rotting bodies and guns and fear. She doesn’t care about the pain she inflicts and wants to understand and fit into her world and the people around her. She knows what she should hide and what she should show off (hiding the rabbits but showing off that she shot ppl to protect Ty). She’s not sorry she killed her sister but scared that carol will be mad at her. She probably sees a lot of herself in the walkers cuz they also don’t care or feel and she thinks on some level this would all be easier if they were all like that. Like her. People with clinical sociopathy still have feelings just not empathy. I don’t think there’s anything carol could have done differently that would have helped.

2025-11-10 16:30:21 +0000 UTCepisode 14 is really hard to watch but in my opinion, its one of the best episodes of television, the writing and acting are so good, the pacing too, it all makes sense. it’s really sad, I remember crying a lot the first time. also, the bonding between Daryl and Beth is so sweet and refreshing, I think its a dynamic we didn’t expect and didn’t know we needed it. I also love the way they connected the idea of loneliness meaning different things, we can see Daryl joining those guys and the song starting to play, meaning that when you are with the wrong crowd, you are still alone.
