Some ideas for upcoming TV shows & some other stuff!
Added 2024-09-11 17:47:27 +0000 UTCThese are some shows I've been looking into and am interested in watching sometime in the future. None of this is set in stone. I'm going to add more TV shows to this long list eventually, and maybe take out some, but I just wanted to share with you all some shows that might possibly be on the next TV show poll. Below, I also go into some reasons behind why I make certain decisions. This might be a lot, so I understand if you don't care to get through it, but it's very important to me!
I'm aware that there are tons of incredible TV shows out there. I'm only one man with limited time and resources. So, if you don't see your favorite show here or your favorite show don't make it into the poll - no hard feelings :)
Also, keep in mind that there are a lot of factors that go into how I decide what to watch next. The popularity of the show on YouTube, how interested I am in watching it, how the show performs on other channels my size, etc It's not just all about passion, I'm a smaller creator that needs to be strategic with what I watch. Because that's how I get views on YouTube, and that's how I get patrons over here. The views, the numbers, and the patrons are how I'm able to continue doing this. Keeps the lights on. I wish I was one of those bigger channels that could just watch whatever they like and still get paid. But I'm not. Strategy comes first for me, unfortunately. Think of it as a business, you need strategy to survive and thrive, not just good product.
However, I'm still going to watch what I find amusing and exciting. Because that's the only way I can make genuine reactions for you guys. So don't worry about me selling out just for views. Those views pay the bills, it's essential. And for anybody worried about show length. I have a fail-safe. I only commit to one season. And based on performance and interactions I reevaluate. Which obviously sucks when I absolutely love a tv show I'm watching. But like I said, your boi has limited time and resources.
Just for transparency's sake, these videos cost around $30-$60 to get edited. A typical video I post on my channel in the last 3 months gets 3K views (on average) (movies & TV shows). (I stopped editing my videos by myself to protect my sanity). Sometimes it doesn't feel worth it. It would be different if these videos were getting 10K views and above. They would literally pay for themselves and make me feel motivated to continue. But as I mentioned earlier, YouTube rules are different for bigger and smaller channels. 3K views video makes me around $18. So half the time I don't even break even. Lol, YouTube can be diabolical sometimes. But we keep riding. 2 years on YouTube have been definitely humbling. The reason I'm sharing this is to let you know that starting new TV shows is a great way to break out to a new audience, and hopefully get more patrons that are willing to support my creative process.
I know some of this might seem new or maybe not relevant. But I'm just sharing from the creator's side of things. I think thoroughly about every choice I make (quite anxiety-inducing). Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It is what it is. We keep pushing. I just wanted to clarify some things up front. To all of you patrons here supporting, thank you so much. Without you all, none of this exists. At the end of the day, if I don't pick or show you like, feel free to cancel your membership as a Patreon, become a free member, and maybe come back later when I start watching your favorite show. It's all good. I'd probably do the same.
Let me know if you have any questions. Here are some of the shows:
Bridgeton
Lost
Mr Robot
American Horror Story
True Detective
Derry girls
The Haunting of Hill House
Shogun
The handmaid's tale
Better Call Saul
Schitts Creek
Midnight Mass
Fallout
The Marvelous Ms Maisel
White Lotus
Succession
Hannibal
Dark

I would again make the suggestion (if you want to have anime on your channel) to give Haikyuu a try. It's a feel-good sports show about personal growth and teamwork in the same vein as Ted Lasso, and has a loyal, sizable audience on YouTube anime and reaction spheres. It could be a best of both worlds situation, while you could keep shows like The Wire which underperform on YT, but have do a group of people that are very passionate about it as Patreon-exclusive content where you don't have to edit it, etc.

2024-09-14 16:14:18 +0000 UTCThank you for the glimpse into how everything works! I'll explain in return: I think the popularity of the shows/movies helps with discovery, ( found your channel as a recommendation while I was watching another Titanic reaction because you had also done one, for example) but your thoughtfulness and analysis is what made me become a subscriber, and then the good vibes of this place, the honesty in your posts and the curiosity about your own community is what's made me upgrade to full paying member. Your show list is really great. I would propose looking into -Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I've seen a couple of big reaction channels start it recently, and there seems to be a new tide of interest in it right now, for some reason. Also, it has a lot of elements I think you might enjoy: the horror elements are mostly metaphorical (the whole premise is basically "high school is hell" lol), it touches on many important life situations, it's witty and fun... I think you'd like it, and it has viewership appeal right now.

2024-09-13 01:48:58 +0000 UTCLost is still a classic. And the first season of the Handmaid's tale is top tier! But the rest... I don't know, I much prefer movie reactions to TV show reactions nowadays :)

2024-09-12 14:28:04 +0000 UTCHaunting of Hill house is my fav show after Interview - I really recommend it. This might be too cynical of an approach for you, but if you want higher views, you should also add some movie reactions to your channel. There are a certain selection of movies that always get big views. Scouting some of the movie reaction channels and sorting by views will show you the same set of films are always at the top.

2024-09-12 05:07:49 +0000 UTCI honestly have only seen a few episodes of a few of these titles. Whatever you pick, if I'm interested, I will prob watch first time along with you.

2024-09-12 04:05:56 +0000 UTCYou're in luck! It's currently on Netflix for the first time. It was originally aired on showtime. I can't wait for you to fall into the story and let me know what you think. Also one of the best scored shows ever IMO. Bear McCreary kills it.

2024-09-12 02:07:34 +0000 UTCAhh So happy to see 2 Mike Flanagan shows on the list. You won’t regret it. Thank you for all your hard work on the channel & patreon. I think I can speak for a lot of us when I say your content & just you being you brings us joy & comfort. Hoping the algorithm rules in your favor one day b/c you deserve it 🤞🏽

2024-09-12 01:48:02 +0000 UTCFrfr...the sellout route is in fact Horror Story & Hillhouse. Those r the Potter ppl. They hold reactors hostage bc they r the majority of the population...especially w access to such extracurricular funds. Sad to loose another one of us to them. Hopefully one day you'll get time to learn editing🙏🏾 We wait for ppl w full times so...no biggie 👌🏾

2024-09-12 01:05:01 +0000 UTCI was one of the people who recommend IWTV. There is another show that is lowkey one of the best shows ever made and it's not as popular as it should be. I REALLY think you would enjoy it. It's called Black Sails. Amazing characters. Check. Badassery and awesome story check. Pirates. Check. Real historical events sprinkled throughout. Check. Awesome character development and arc. Also one of the most complete shows I've ever seen with a a solid ending and neatly wrapped up in 4 seasons. Prequel to Treasure Island.

2024-09-11 23:09:20 +0000 UTCI just am not feeling either of these for Franklin. I don't know why?? I like them both.
Melissa
2024-09-11 23:08:53 +0000 UTCYes, I would stick around for "Schitt's Creek" definitely! I don't plan to leave, but that would keep me for sure.
Melissa
2024-09-11 23:08:28 +0000 UTCI love them both but for the triggers (HT) and length (Lost)
Melissa
2024-09-11 23:06:56 +0000 UTCI agree to avoid Handmaid's Tale and LOST.
Melissa
2024-09-11 23:06:35 +0000 UTCI'm not sure "Succession" is your cup of tea. It's in my top 3 best shows of all time, but for some reason, it doesn't feel like a "you" show.
Melissa
2024-09-11 23:06:05 +0000 UTCagreed!

2024-09-11 23:05:16 +0000 UTCSmart thinking on your recommendations!
Melissa
2024-09-11 23:04:59 +0000 UTCI really want to especially recommend "The Leftovers" -- knowing you a bit now and seeing the type of shows and content that stimulates your mind and heart, it would really fit that type of show. It's rated one of the Top 25 best shows of the 2020s by critics. If that matters -- ha ha!
Melissa
2024-09-11 23:04:46 +0000 UTCI'm obsessed with "Hannibal," and I was devastated when it was canceled. "Dark" is brilliant, but I feel like it is long and complex and maybe not what he described he's looking for. However, I'd never vote against it. :)
Melissa
2024-09-11 23:02:16 +0000 UTCHaving read your entire post, I think you should lean toward a show that is only 1 or 2 seasons -- and one that may not be covered by a lot of others. With that as my guide, I will recommend the following: 1. "Shogun" (1 season) recent but very popular so I would see how many ppl are covering it 2. "Midnight Mass" would be a great segway out of "Interview with the Vampire" & it's only 1 season 3. "White Lotus" has 2 seasons, but I think this would be doable, and I don't know how many people would have covered it 4. "Hannibal" has 3 seasons, but it's a top tier show, and I was devastated it was canceled 5. "True Detective" (Season 1) it's brilliant, but it's older -- I guess "The Wire" is, too, though. 6. "Schitt's Creek" while it's many seasons, it's a half hour sitcom, so it's definitely doable. You could probably do 2 episodes at a time so it would be like a 1 hour show. If you're taking more suggestions: "Maid," "The Queen's Gambit," "Normal People," "The Leftovers," "Stranger Things," "The Americans," "Beef"

2024-09-11 23:00:15 +0000 UTCHannibal...! Not often you see that show on a reaction channel! My favourite show of all times. I think I rewatch it twice a year 😂 Haunting of Hill House is just so beautiful, and the show Dark is just masterfully done. So many good choices!
Ramona
2024-09-11 22:13:03 +0000 UTCthe haunting of hill house is also such a good pick among other good picks!
caroline
2024-09-11 22:10:59 +0000 UTCthe marvelous mrs maisel would be a great show to watch especially after finishing iwtv (but also just in general). it’s funny, light hearted for the most part, and has a flawed, entertaining heroine to laugh with and root for. also the pilot… one of the best pilots i’ve ever seen and, personally, it’scn vi my top two favorite pilots
caroline
2024-09-11 22:08:43 +0000 UTCSo sorry I haven’t seen any of these so the best thing I can offer is trust your best Patreon group who have really hit the nail on the head.

2024-09-11 21:21:16 +0000 UTCI definitely need to watch it!
James Hannon
2024-09-11 20:58:38 +0000 UTCI can see Midnight Mass giving you a lot to talk about, like deep thoughts and conversation. Also, Dark and True Detective(Actually just finished the first season myself last week). But I'm sure you'll enjoy most of the options on that list.
Jasmine Patterson
2024-09-11 20:02:20 +0000 UTCHannibal will get you a similar crowd to IWTV. Artistic, queer coded, dark dramas and the 3 seasons are short. Maybe that can be a good IWTV replacement. True Detective is also in this vein. Bridgerton is always going to be big visibility and there aren’t a lot of Black men who watch it. Fallout will also have higher visibility since it’s been pretty well received. Shogun is more recent and has already won 10+ Emmys from the Creative Arts alone. You can possibly ride that recognition. It’s a short, one season show so it can be a good, timely palate cleanser. Your list is great. The only show on the list I would hesitate for you to react to is Handmaid’s Tale. But you do you!
Janeka Rector
2024-09-11 19:38:17 +0000 UTCHaunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass are very good. Longer episodes, but short seasons, maybe 8-9 episodes each. Also, it would be right in time for spooky season!
Mermaid Day
2024-09-11 19:25:23 +0000 UTCIf you like Ted Lasso, you would probably like Schitts Creek. Although they are 2 totally different shows, they both have a lot of heart. Plus, it's just funny. They are short episodes which would make it easier to edit and a lot of the Ted Lasso crowd would stick around for Schitts Creek.
Mermaid Day
2024-09-11 19:22:36 +0000 UTCYes! I mentioned this too that a lot of people who have watched Ted Lasso also watched Schitt’s Creek (I’m one of them!), so he’d probably be able to maintain some of that audience. It’s another great comedy that gets deeper as it goes on and has a lot of character development. It (along with Ted Lasso) are two shows that I’ve rewatched so many times. They never get old to me.
Tammy S
2024-09-11 19:06:47 +0000 UTCDerry Girls and Schitt’s Creek are great. I feel like a lot of people that have watched Ted Lasso have also seen Schitt’s Creek so I think you’d be able to find an audience there. It’s just a stellar show, and while there are 6 seasons, the episodes are less than 30 minutes so editing would probably be easier. Succession is also great even though I didn’t particularly care for the last season, and Dark is fantastic as well. Insane, and makes your head hurt sometimes, but fantastic. Re: Bridgerton - If I were you, I would actually wait until we get a Season 4 release date and then plan it out to where you can watch the whole series and get caught up right as the new season comes out. The reason why I say that is because the hype from Season 3 has already kind of died down a little but usually when Netflix releases the first teaser/trailer with a date (usually several months in advance), the excitement starts again and people usually rewatch/will also look for reactions to watch. So I feel like the time in between there would get you ultimate views from Bridgerton fans. Bridgerton is a long way away from the next season so I would hold off on that one for a bit longer.
Tammy S
2024-09-11 19:00:59 +0000 UTCI would support you watching any of the shows above (although I wouldn’t be able to rewatch the Handmaid's Tale as that’s personally too hard a watch). If I had to recommend a specific few, Derry Girls feels like it could be a great Ted Lasso followup. It's another feel good show with a lot of heart and humor. I also want to echo the other folks who have already recommended that Fleabag be added for consideration. I loooooveeee your reactions for the insight, humor, and empathy you bring to them and I think Fleabag is a show that would really allow you to dive deep with the commentary and showcase all of those things. Might be a good IWTV successor as it's about the same length (2 short seasons)? Did a quick bit of Youtube research and both Derry Girls and Fleabag reaction videos seem to perform pretty well. My personal preference would learn towards shorter shows (e.g. fewer seasons/episodes) just so that there's an opportunity to watch more and not get tied up with just one for too too long (sorry Lost but you're so very long) but totally your call! I appreciate the transparency regarding the thought process that goes into choosing your next shows!
alee
2024-09-11 18:56:27 +0000 UTCThese shows are all strong but they cater for so different viewers. Tastes differ through and through, so my most favorite here are Mr Robot, The Marvelous Ms Maisel and White Lotus. Btw I feel like Hannibal is the show a lot of IWTV fans would appreciate as well!!! I'd enjoy your reactions to any of them.
Lisa Alex
2024-09-11 18:44:34 +0000 UTCI am SO excited to see True Detective, Hill House and Midnight Mass on this list!! These are the shows that top my list of favs. I would definitely recommend watching Hill House around spooky season, I think you'd get a lot of engagement not only because of that combo but because I believe the people who are drawn to Hill House reactions will love what you bring to the table as someone with your style of content.

2024-09-11 18:43:13 +0000 UTCAmerican Horror Story, please!!!!

2024-09-11 18:36:27 +0000 UTCdark if you want a 3 season show that will leave you speechless. it’s truly great idk how tf they even did that tbh. succession would be cool since you’re a very empathetic person it’d be an interesting (and enduring) watch lmao. better call saul definitely a must but i feel like you have time to go back to it since it’s kinda long. white lotus would be really fun and easier to pick up after a show like ted lasso. mr robot is good, it’s just a lot. i think dark would be a better pick if you’re going for that kind of vibe. but don’t sleep on midnight mass, it’s very short and worth the watch. also i am a natural born hater but imo lost is not worth sitting through this many episodes. i hate it with a burning passion. i respect the fact that a lot of people love it but it’s a huge commitment, you would take years to finish it. just like better call saul i think it’s better to do it down the road, but again this is just my opinion and you do as you wish.

2024-09-11 18:32:28 +0000 UTCSo many great shows! I'll be tuning in to all of them for sure. Mike Flanagan shows o seem to do well for reactors (Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, etc.). Like someone else mentioned, I'd love to add Fleabag to your list. Super intelligent and funny watch and only 2 seasons.
Jessie
2024-09-11 18:20:40 +0000 UTCYou've got some good picks. I'm most looking forward to American Horror Story (AHS) specifically the first two seasons :)

2024-09-11 18:18:40 +0000 UTCFleabag is so freaking good
Jessie
2024-09-11 18:16:49 +0000 UTCI'm eatin' pretty good rn because I love Ted Lasso and The Wire and there are some excellent shows on your list. I haven't seen Schitt's Creek, but it's a 22 minute sitcom so strategically it could be good in that it wouldn't require as much editing as some of the longer shows like Better Call Saul or Succession (Both are incredible, btw). Also, I'm fairly sure that it would have some crossover with the audience of Ted Lasso. I plan on watching it myself at some stage dure to a recommendation I got as a Lasso fan. Keep doing what you're doing, man. You're one of the best reactors on youtube. I know you're grindin' rn, but, believe me, you're on your way to being one of the GOATs.
James Hannon
2024-09-11 18:02:38 +0000 UTCDARK is my favorite show it’s truly a masterpiece imo + it’s only 3 seasons but i like almost all the tv show in the list anyway!
N
2024-09-11 18:00:10 +0000 UTCI also think Downton Abbey would be better than Bridgerton. Both er hugely popular shows, there is due to be a third Downton movie soon, so you can tag on to that popularity. Downton Abbey is really historically correct and brilliantly acted and written, it also covers both upstairs and downstairs. Bridgerton is entertaining pulp fiction. I cringe when people thing it's an accurate portraial.

2024-09-11 17:57:45 +0000 UTCI love any Mike Flanagan option (Hill House, Bly Manor, Midnight Mass) Succession is so so fantastic too.
Bethany that's me
2024-09-11 17:57:07 +0000 UTCFrom a business and “most views” kind of perspective, the shows I think might get you the most views from your list (*that I have watched and in order of what I think would do best to lesser*): - Succession - The Haunting of Hill House (specifically starting it before Halloween, I think that’d do really really well) - Better Call Saul - Bridgerton - Lost (this show I feel like kind of kickstarted deeper tv for a lot of us more surface level viewers. There are so many episodes, I feel like you could keep this ongoing for a long time) - I’d also love to add to your list: Fleabag, if you haven’t already. I’m new to your channel! - Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Now a show I’d personally love to see you cover as a viewer: Mr. Robot…omg it’s so good and, like IWTV, I feel like it was a well-done show that didn’t get enough watchers until later on. I will say it is DENSE DENSE, but it’s incredibly interesting to see people’s opinions added into it. Also keeping in mind the more saturated markets, as in shows that I feel like have too many reactions — I’d keep that in mind for maybe Bridgerton? I say this only because I don’t feel like that show needs a lot…interpreted? That may only be my personal opinion. I know as a viewer, I’d watch it if you covered it, but I have seen a lot of reactions to it. However, all the reactions I’ve seen tend to do well. And I do love the show so it’s not a bias against it. I just think one of your strengths as a reactor is the deeper thought shows and the analysis (I mean this as a huge compliments, that’s what brought me from YouTube to Patreon for you). This is why your IWTV reaction is so so good, it’s a show that needs it and that’s the high we, who like really love the series and are highkey obsessed, are chasing. I love your reactions and can’t wait for what’s to come!
Amanda Hill
2024-09-11 17:57:05 +0000 UTCBridgerton and Midnight Mass are great! Some really great shows on here, but those are the only 2 I’ve watched and enjoyed. It’s always a good idea to branch out and try more shows so I like this plan.

2024-09-11 17:56:17 +0000 UTCThe list you have is great👍🏾i'm here for it lol. The Handmaid's Tale is really good.I think you might like The Gilded Age it only has 2 seasons right now.Just a suggestion lol
deedra Mcconis
2024-09-11 17:55:39 +0000 UTCThe Marvelous Ms Maisel is brilliant and you will love it, it has been quite popular, but I have seen no one reacting to it, so I think you might have an untapped marked here. Thanks for the good explanation of everything 😊 I hope you also will do more movies, I enjoy them the most. 😊 But that's just my opinion, I understand totally that I have to wait 😊

2024-09-11 17:54:24 +0000 UTCI feel for you! Creating content, especially for a living and not just for passion is hard. It's hard enough if you are just doing it for passion too. So please go with whatever works best for you, I'm gonna stick around either way! I would love to see you watch the Marverlous Ms Maisel, Derry Girls or Dark. Sadly none of these shows have a very diverse cast but I think they are interesting shows none the less and I hope if you pick one of these that you are gonna enjoy them!
Maria
2024-09-11 17:54:19 +0000 UTCi love your content so much i honestly will probably stay a patron even when you’re not watching a show i enjoy. that being said — watching you react to hannibal after iwtv would be a really fun experience, they’re often compared to each other and i think watching you hating but also loving every character would be interesting lol
