You honestly made me laugh with all your reactions, especially to Lestat and how evil his actions came off. That’s how I felt watching this for the first time! I was appalled! It’s what the show wanted you to feel. This is also through Claudia’s eyes via her diary, and not Louis’, so it became even more visceral to me. Obviously the show wants to take you on a journey and characters do grow and change. That’s one of the best parts of this show, being able to change your perspective about characters based on what they show you. Making you empathize with monsters.

2024-08-26 18:10:28 +0000 UTCSo far I don't see vampires as being all that detached from humanity from a psychological or mental standpoint. To me they just seem like humans corrupted by way too much power and traumatized by their own nature and what they've done. Not completely unlike what some people do when given power in war zones. It corrupts to different extents. If they were a completely different creature I don't think they would be disturbed by killing certain people like they are. That and they're all so unique in how they react to their new nature. They may physically be vampires, but psychologically they're extremely human IMO. Oh, I think this view explains why so far I view Lestat as more of a hedonist with few moral qualms rather than just a superior, more accepting vampire. I don't think there's any such thing as a mentally healthy vampire, since the nature conflicts too hard with the humanity leftover unless you're some variant of anti social personality, lol. That's just, like, my opinion, man. xD

2024-08-20 15:22:14 +0000 UTCI can't help but find it a bit funny how you're watching a show about vampires but every time they do what's in their nature - kill and feed - you get quite upset and see it as them being "bad" 😄 I think you're thinking too much of them as humans when they're something completely different. I don't see Lestat taking Claudia hunting as any worse than Louis taking her on the boat. They're both just spending time with her doing what they enjoy. And Claudia clearly likes killing as much as Lestat.

2024-08-20 14:05:32 +0000 UTCI feel that. Especially initially. Heck it was even funny half the time watching her do her shit. Her big bright eyes and her southern accent haha The actress is so good

2024-08-15 17:41:00 +0000 UTCI just love how naturally Claudia adapt to her vampiric nature lol don’t get me wrong I find Louis struggle interesting to watch but at the end of the day they’re vamps and it’s cool to see a fledgling that simply gets hungry and eats people without some big moral qualm

2024-08-15 03:27:28 +0000 UTCYes. This is a rough episode. And it makes me reflect on what we already know about Lestat from episode one when he shared a little about his own experience as a young person and how he was treated by his father. And then we add your observations of how much more human these seemingly inhuman people are supposed to be. Thank you for watching this series!

2024-08-14 16:05:01 +0000 UTCOh not controversial at all. I think he's the most interesting character in this whole show. He works so well and he's the major factor in moving the story forward. I look forward to all the ways the story will depend on their Dynamics and characters.

2024-08-14 05:31:03 +0000 UTCGood to know. It's always beautiful when creators put their pride away and adapt The Source material in a way that respects the original creator. Its something we see less and less these days. Bravo to them. I appreciate you. I hope you enjoyed the journey as well

2024-08-14 04:59:07 +0000 UTCI was way too naive and enjoying that episode way too much😭🤣 I'm glad you're enjoying it Mark

2024-08-14 04:56:14 +0000 UTCOh, I know why there are Lestat apologists. I’ve seen the entire series, both seasons , probably 4 or 5 times now and I have read some of the books. I’m the person that suggested Frank to add the series to his TV show poll.

2024-08-13 23:45:10 +0000 UTCThats not why there are a lot of Lestat apologists. I won't say more..except to say that Vampires aren't perfect obviously.. and some of us know the whole story thusly giving us perspective.

2024-08-13 23:39:58 +0000 UTCI unterstand why you feel that way about Lestat. I felt the same way about him even as a book reader who know the character from the book and wasn't happy with the change to the character in season 1... But after seeing season 2 I understand what the creators of the show are going for. I had my reservation but the team behind the show is so dedicated to the source material Anne Rice books that i trust them completly now. And yes the way that Lestat is portray by Louis in season 1 make him the villain. I love this show so much! It a joy to rewatch this odyssey with you through you're fresh eyes! Good journey!

2024-08-13 23:01:28 +0000 UTCthinking of what you said early on in the episode...somthing about, 'glad to have a light day' haha....that changed quickly and the commenters are pointing that out...I think we are getting much more depth in content. I am so excited to keep watching thiis.

2024-08-12 02:44:30 +0000 UTCNo, I didn’t really think you were only talking about me personally, but there are a lot of Lestat apologists because they love the promise of the relationship with he and Louis. And it’s hard not to feel sorry for Louis, because Lestat is so domineering. But this is told from Louis point of view, so he’s a more sympathetic character. I just like to play devil’s advocate and balance it out. As much as I love Louis, the only real 100% victim in all this is Claudia.
Dee
2024-08-11 09:44:49 +0000 UTCFactssssssss!! I like that a lot. They have a shared reality that lestat would never understand even if you really cared I love Louis honesty. It was refreshing to see frfr
Franklin
2024-08-10 23:50:22 +0000 UTCI know right. Everybody here on patron is so good at not given spoilers. YouTube on the other hand, I can’t say the same. That’s why I want to make sure I finish at least season one before I even post anything on YouTube. so much to find in these episodes. Rewatching this season is going to be so fun. Can’t wait. I’ll be starting season two immediately😁🫡🔥

2024-08-10 23:47:02 +0000 UTCI hear you. Very valid. I think one of the things I enjoy about the show is that although they’re vampires and monsters, they still have the same feelings and philosophies as humans. We’ve seen from the present day that Louis persevered and lives in the modern day as a “good vampire” .. not what Lestat tried to made him. And that kind of makes me happy
Franklin
2024-08-10 23:42:03 +0000 UTCJust wanna say my comments on this video or the previous was in no way to imply or think of you as a lestat fan girl. My apologies if i came off that way. That’s a really good point of Louis being selfish in asking for Claudia to be turned. That’s something I didn’t even consider. I guess in a lot of ways I was still viewing Louis as a victim in all this, and not giving him the same energy I was giving lestat
Franklin
2024-08-10 23:24:53 +0000 UTCI’m very happy this could supplement your awesome weekend. For real. I wasn’t going too hard on lestat But after seeing all he did with Claudia. He can freaking burn in hell I’m so sad that these two seasons are so freaking short. Thank you So much
Franklin
2024-08-10 23:11:32 +0000 UTCThat is so horrible. I didn’t even think of the idea that a lot of people who view her will be prevented men looking for young girls. Yikes! I’m also curious about what time the other vampires meet their end and how but I don’t wanna speculate too much so I don’t ruin it for myself.
Franklin
2024-08-10 23:09:24 +0000 UTCThe People's Princess is finally here! It's also to note that the dynamic is further solidified by Louis and Claudia being black, having insights to eachothers lives and thought processes that Lestat can not reach. It always reminds me of the nod when you past other black people or the slight scrunch of the face you can tell what the vibe, a wordless voicing of complaint. I also enjoy that Louis is very honest with her even telling her straight up that he was the cause of the fire, ( well he wasn't those white men were but it was a by product of his murder) he didn't try to hide it at all.

2024-08-10 19:07:27 +0000 UTCEvery time I see the long comments on these videos, I get scared that people are spoiling the story and characters for you! but people are keeping it pretty safe. Good job commenters! lol You picked up on so much here that I didn't notice— the diaries starting out flowery and beautiful and getting more plain as they got more current. I'm excited for the next few episodes and the AMAZING season 2 whenever you get to it.

2024-08-10 17:42:09 +0000 UTCClaudia and Lestat are similar when it comes to embracing their vampiric nature, Louis isn’t, and that’s fine for him to take his time but from Lestat’s perspective he sees that as Louis rejecting him which is why he does not like it when Louis doesn’t join in the hunting. Claudia, however, even though she’s stuck in the body of a teenager she definitely enjoys killing and embraces that. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that because they’re vampires at the end of the day. Again, Lestat is too impulsive and brutish with his actions and I can see that becoming an even bigger problem, I feel bad for Claudia. She definitely did not deserve to see her first love being burned.

2024-08-10 14:31:51 +0000 UTCYes, Lestat is horrible. I’m not a Lestat fangirl. He’s a monster, a vampire. Very true to his nature. But, the only innocent is Claudia. You said last episode that Lestat made Louie a vampire, ruined his life against his will. But I pointed out that even though he was in distress, Louie actually chose to be a vampire. Here, Louie made Lestat make Claudia a vampire, gave her no choice at all. Lestat tried to warn him because her brain would age and she’d be forever trapped in the body of a hormonal, unstable child going through puberty. He knew this would not turn out well. So yes, Lestat is exactly who he said he was, a monster vampire. Louie is a vampire trying to hold on to his humanity, but his actions are not entirely without reproach. The making of Claudia was “a bandaid for a terrible marriage ,” and entirely selfish on his part. He wanted a daughter. He could’ve taken her to a hospital but he didn’t. And knowing how miserable he himself is as a vampire, he still decided to make her one anyway. So, they are all monsters in their own way. But I love Claudia, she’s one of my favorite characters.

2024-08-10 14:25:36 +0000 UTCThe best way to start the weekend!! One of my fave eps this season. Loved to see the fam dynamics. Oh Claudia. How terrible it must be to be stuck in a prepubescent body your entire life. Also, Lestat is a TERRIBLE parent. We thought he was a bad partner but he said hold my beer. He and Claudia are both so similar too, and Louis loves them both unconditionally. Excited to see how this plays out! You’re doing such an amazing job. Keep it up!!

2024-08-10 13:47:22 +0000 UTCTo know that as a young girl, you were given away to be abused as pleased, then turned into a vampire where no one told you that you would never age, and you fell in love accidentally killing the one you loved only deepen the agony of knowing she would never grow up and she would never know, age appropriate love. The only ones who would seek her company in an intimate way would be the perverted ones. There are so much in that very last moment of the movie that compels your heart to explore generational trauma. When she was turned, she was already high, spirited, rebellious, angry, wanting to lash out because she had already been given away, abandoned to abuse only to be saved by demons then to be called an angel by the one she loved and the return of psychological and emotional abuse by the one she loved the most the manipulator Lestat. The ending shows self harm but with no diaries past 1973 I don’t believe she made it past 1973. I believe she finally just decided enough was enough. Maybe I’m wrong.
