Saelis could not take her eyes off the page.
“And upon the throne of the temple sat the most beautiful violet-eyed priestess, the queen — a priestess named Saelis.”
“Saelis?!” Her breath caught. “Is this book talking about me?”
Or was it about another — an ancient priestess who merely bore her name?
Flickers of vague, distant memories stirred in her mind, appearing and vanishing like candlelight in the wind.
She read on.
The priestess-queen trained young priestesses of love, teaching them rites so powerful that the entire male community bent to her will, worshipping her beauty and offering themselves to her sacred rituals.
The deeper Saelis sank into the words, the stronger the heat within her grew. Her fingers brushed the edge of the page, trembling with an unspoken desire to be part of what she was reading.
Only the most devoted were chosen to participate — and the queen herself would lead the ritual.
“Everything described there is true,” came the Master’s voice from behind her.
Saelis flinched, but remained silent.
“You know this,” he continued, “because you conducted these rituals… and even invented them. The book is about you. I do not know why you have forgotten — but the last time we met, I told you you were the last of the local elf princesses. That was not the whole truth. You are the only one.”
He stepped closer, his voice lowering.
“During our… contact, I read fragments of your memories, hidden deep by some kind of trauma. But I will help you awaken the priestess of love you once were. And she will serve me — to the end.”
His tone was cold, but the words lit a fire in her veins.
“Yes, my Master,” she breathed, bowing her head, violet eyes burning. “I will serve… as you wish.”
