2025-05-21 02:37:25 +0000 UTCSo, I don’t think that guy who’s always walking beside “Hong-rang” is deaf or mute. I think in episode 1 he just doesn’t have any lines yet. He’s probably one of those close attendants—kind of like a servant or guard who’s always by his side. Historically, in the Joseon era, noble families (and especially royalty) had personal male attendants, sometimes even eunuchs, who were always around them. They were called nobi, jipsa, or naesi (which means eunuch in Korean). They followed their master closely and handled things quietly without always speaking. So it’s not that he can’t talk—I think the show just hasn’t given him dialogue yet. I bet we’ll hear from him later on.
