He asked Aesun's uncle why he only bought 5 croakers instead of 6, brought food for Aesun despite his grandma and mom didnt allow him to, and willingly ran away with her and several other times he fought back his family. Gwansik didn't hesitate a bit when it comes to protecting Aesun. And I agree with you that Geummyeong's case does not make sense irl. But maybe it made sense back in the days in Korean culture tho

Also, in Korea, marriage is between families. Parents still have a say on who their kids marry. The idea of marrying into a family with the same background and status is pretty common. The women have to work, but still have to perform daughter-in-law duties. There are channels that talk about these stories. I feel like this is also one of many reasons why people are not getting married in Korea.
