mm, to me, i actually think it’s more complicated than they are or aren’t the same person. i think it’s a mix of both. no one’s really commented on it, but i kind of feel like helena might have mixed emotions regarding her beliefs on innie’s. she has clear feelings towards both innie and (now) outtie mark. her calling them animals is just a product of how she was raised. with the dylan situation, his innie displays the same personality traits as his outtie — just entirely toned down due to real life issues he’s facing in the world. mark as well has maintained his humor and sassy remarks just on a different scale. i dunno, i feel like they’re the same people just rebranded / on reset - down different paths; which again poses a bigger question on helena’s true emotions underneath all that eagan propaganda. even mr. milchick knows the way that company goes about things is outta pocket. morally gray characters >>>

They're the same person just like rebooting a computer and putting it in factory settings. Same form, different experiential path, different person but the same body. But I think things will get more complicated since the Innies are interacting with the manifestations of the memories of the Outies behind the severed Tabula Rasa -- so it is not a complete blank slate. The offices and the maze-like conditions look like a brain. I think there is a two conditions. One real and one superimposed on manifestations of memories that can be manipulated. That is why it can appear these people expirience snow and nature when in reality they are not out in the woods. This means space is not totally fake but it is at the same time if they make it so. They can manipulate the layout of things while you're seriously experiencing these things. The wife of the protagonist is likely a process of downloading her dimensionally out of his brain rather than her being alive. Her saying the facts is like a computer downloading features, so she is processing. When Mark is arranging the numbers in the computer, he is processing her up to completion from his own brain. I also think there are several layers to this. Seth, similar to the Severed peoples, is being studied, only he thinks he is working up the ladder as if he is working for the company rather being his own unique subject being observed. All of it is fake. He is being observed in a different role but is no different than Mark to the people in charge.
