That’s why in gt he turns to ape then golden ape(ssj ape) then ss4 and why he has tail & fur it’s more of the power of the ape condensed while in super sayian making a new form i think lol but in gt I think he needed his tail for it which is why the Kai had to pull it out and they explained it in GT

So I think the idea of saiyan requiring their tail to reach the apex of their power is such a dope concept. Obviously the god forms make this irrelevant but maybe in the future, as their seems to never be an end to the transformations.

But these last few episodes have definitely been fire, and some of the best DB content ever. And I’m glad to see the love for SS4 finally. I just wish they had a better villain to justify needing this form. Gomah sat around doing nothing for 16 episodes only to get this strong so easily.

His small child body can’t handle the power of Ssj4 and WHILE THIS IS FIRE. GT was still far better executed in terms of writing because it required the saiyan tail and required brutes waves to flow through the body which is OG saiyan lore. It makes sense that the last thing toriyama was involved in had elements of all of his works. We gotta stop looking at this as a whole new arc that's going to change the landscape of dragon ball, and just appreciate it as a gift to the fans that stuck with him throughout it all.
