2024-12-12 23:28:29 +0000 UTCI would say it’s way worse since a corporate rings of power show is literally the one thing tolkien would have hated to most. they have 3000 year old galadriel who is essentially a wise and powerful angel mage and turn her into a 17 year old bratty marvel character. they make sauron a heartthrob love interest, they make celebrimbor (look at shadow of mordor’s depiction and compare, it’s also fan fic but the look is solid) a stupid gullible fool. literally every story beat is butchered in a way that it just feels like spiteful anger against tolkien specifically

And he’s not even the largest dragon in the Lotr lore (Ancalagon the black). Whose wings would darken entire continents with their silhouette. Pretty sure balerion is a reference to him since he’s also called “the black” and they said his wings would darken entire towns

They are immortal, angelic beings called the Ishtari. Gandalf is OP af compared to the threats we see in this trilogy and could easily handle them himself if he used his full power, he's just forbidden by God to not directly interfere and only help and guide the heroes. So he knows so much because he's been around so long he literally watched the world's creation.
