Well you are in for a good surprise. The Hobbit trilogy doesn’t hold a candle to the original. I STRONGLY suggest you watch them on your own first. You will enjoy them significantly more and really appreciate the art it was. The use of practical effects in that trilogy won them so many awards because of how well it was all done. The cinematography itself is 11/10.

The actor that played Gandalf is Ian Mckellan. He didn't play Dumbeldore, though they do look alike. The second actor for Dumbeldore was Michael Gambon who passed away last year. Ian McKellan played Magneto in the original X Men trilogy.
