It has nothing in common with the films or books, takes huge leaps in both the storytelling and just basic logic, and may bore you to the point of not wanting anything to do with Middle Earth as a whole, which would be a shame because the Peter Jackson movies are phenomenal.

I think what hurts it the most is having the name attached to it though, in fairness. If it was just some made up new fantasy show, I think it would have been received better. LOTR fans are kinda obnoxious and hard to please. Like 75% of them are all up in arms about the anime movie coming out in December.
